Can Japan defend their 2006 World Baseball Classic Champion Title?

Japan claimed the World Baseball Classic 2006, playing against Cuba in the finals. This time they have to face America in the semifinals. Could they win it and move to the finals?
What could be the factors in favor of Japan to win the World Baseball Classic 2009?
And what are the unfavorable factors working against Japan?
If not Japan,what team has the biggest possibility to claim the title this time?

Good play also for America! But I noticed during the semifinals, America is not aggressive with their approach. Is it because of the Major League Baseball will start soon and they don`t want any injury?

i guess this time not champion..maybe some first place..have you seen the battle between japan and korea? korea wins. so it means minus point..
and aside from that ichiro's performance.. i think hes not giving his best.. looks like he loses his power.. thats all i think..
i wish japan moves up to final.. japan goodluck..

Yeah, Korea will be a serious rival.
But before that, they have to face America in the semifinals. Members of the American team have sustained injury but nevertheless recuperating and available for the semifinals.
One odd against Japan with its battle against America will be the absence of Murata, the first baseman. He was sent home when the injury turned out to be serious.
If ever they emerge to be the winner in the semifinals, they have to analyze the Korea`s strengths- first and foremost pitchers.
Well, I hope they can play a great game and win the finals...

Just an update, if anyone will stumble upon this thread.
Korea tied the score with Japan during the ninth inning. For the tenth inning, Japan advanced with 2 points more.
Congratulations team Japan! Well deserved victory!!!

i thought japan could loose this time.. but im wrong.. they win against korea.. they fight up to the lastround..

At first I also thought that Korea have big chances of snatching the WBC ( World Baseball Classic) Champion title. But Samurai Japan have once again proven that it is determined to defend its title.
