Now a days there are lots of open universities available for the education, which I think is a blessing. Do you think age really matters for a person to go for education?

oh no, age is not a problem to pursue education. We all need to learn something during our lifetime. We all learning every single day. Even you are getting older, you still need to learn. In the university I attended to, some people as old as 60 years old. They still pursue their degrees.

I had been studying Indira Gandhi Open University MCA. I had stopped it because I got the job at the time. I am around 29. I am thinking about continuing it, but I feel I am too old to go for education. I think I am wrong in thinking I am old to go for education.

life is a learning curve-we learn something new everyday, so I dont think age matters in any way-I think we focus too much on age and not our capabilities

I also think that life is a learning curve and we learn something every day. I have a few friends who continues learning no matter how old they get. It is great to continue education.

Hi friend, age is not a factor for education. we can study at any age based on our interest. As most of the universities offer the distance education, we can continue our studies at any age. There is not age limitation for our education

I went back to school when I was 40. I did evening classes to continue some of the courses I had not pursued when I was a student. If there was an age when we can no longer learn then how would all us older people have learnt to use a computer? These days so many new things are being added that it is never too late to learn. Go for it if you are thinking of going back to studying - you will not regret it!

I also agree with you that there is no age for education and for studying. It really inspires me knowing about your experience.

I do not think that it is a problem, I mean age that is. Now if the person is just a child, albeit if they are a genius child, they should not be forced into schooling. I think that people of any age should go back to school if they truly want to, but that they shouldn't feel pressured to go back. Now, the way the economy is, it doesn't matter if you're educated in your profession if the company needs to make cut backs, that could mean your job. Sorry I went off topic, lol, no I don't think their's an age limit / or should be an age limit to learning.

There were something called double promotion in which the children were promoted to double the classes if they could pass the exam of the next class without studying for one year and studied before the academic year at home or something. I think it is real fun to have double promotions in classes.

I don't think it really does matter. My mom went back to university, when she was in her early forties, and after she had me and my younger sister. She did graduate, and all. So, no, I don't think it really matters.

Not at all. I became a full-time college student at comm. college when I was 15. There were people in my classes over 60 as well. Age didn't matter in the classes at all.

No, I don't. I still do courses on the internet and I feel that you can never stop learning right through life. There is always something for us to learn. My Auntie was still studying at the age of 70 and did pretty well at it too! Brightest Blessings.

For other people, it doesn't matter. For me, it matters. Because I am planning to finish my education as soon as possible. I don't want to finish it when I'm old. I want to do so many things in my life and it's education that's holding me back. I can't wait to get out of college.

Not at all. Education is something that everyone can have, it doesn't have to necessarily mean that we should formally go to school, coz there are a lot of other ways to acquire education, we just have to keep on searching. In the first place, I believe that we should keep learning as we grow older.

Of course not. People are never too old to learn anything - although sometimes people are too young to learn some things. Our purpose in school is to learn - if we make friends along the way then good. But if we don't then there are other places to make friends - or we should have at least made friends before and we should keep them :) Some people feel like they won't "fit in" the school because they're "too old" compared to their classmates - but that shouldn't really matter. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I don't think so. What is important is if the person wants to improve his life or he wants to achieve his goal through finishing his studies no matter what then its ok.

As the cliche goes,"You are never too old to learn." I've seen retirees pursue high school education. Education is empowering and life-changing.

like many have said, age does not really matter. some even gave good sayings. as you grow older, you are still learning new things. it might not be via books or by going to school, but through experiences. but even if it's through experiences, it is still education. it's just that some might feel awkward about going to school or universities or private institutions when they're older as most of the 'classmates' might be years younger. that's not unusual, if one can overcome that feeling, that gap, then even if you're really old, as long as you have the interest and passion, you can still go i feel.

As long as you have the interest & intention to study age doesn't matter for education.

Really age is not a barrier for our studies. We have come across many old age people learning new languages and attaining degrees. My aunt finished her M.A. when she was forty+ inspite of the burden of the family duties. Anybody interested can learn anything at any age. Knowledge sees no age.

Age is a non issue, we never stop learning. And if we want to learn, our age isn't going to stop us. It will happen, and having a place where we can go to, meet other people who are also interested in learning is a great thing.
