Honestly I would never pierce my daughter's ears...if I had a daughter. I would wait until she wanted it done, not because I didn't want confusion if she was a boy or girl when she was a baby. What could I have done for my two boys though? Both were called "a cute little girl" when they were babies, but there was nothing I could do!!! I even had them dressed in all blue with blue blankets, and yet were still called girls!!! LMAO!!

I think it looks ugly on a baby or young child. Let them make their own mind up when they are older if they want piercings or not! Besides, having your ears pierced is pretty painful so why inflict this needlessly? What do you mean "for the sake of looking like a girl"? Piercings are for both genders!

LOL-yeah but I have yet to see a baby boy's ears pierced! (Jeez, I HOPE there aren't people who've done that) What ever happened to dressing baby girls in pink? If I saw a baby in a little pink outfit I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go, "Awwwww....what's his name??"

some people say it's less painful at a younger age, because your body deals with injuries better at a young age.

Believe it or not, I babysat for a little boy who has his ear pierced and his father wanted it so that he would look like a "pimp" but his older sister isn't allowed to get hers done????

I ususally wait until the child can understand that it will hurt for a minute. They also need to be able to help me take care of their newly pierced ears by keeping them clean and keeping track of their earrings in a jewelry box. I waited until around age 5-6 with my first daughter. Everyone has the right to their own opinion though.

No way. I think Piercing anything on your body should be your decision, I would wait until the baby is old enough to say,"yeah i want my ears pierced or no thanks mom". Its their choice I think.

Well IMO to each their own. My husband and I have decided to wait until our daughter is old enough to decide that she wants her ears pierced on her own. When she tells us she is ready, then we will bring her.

I have 4 girls and none were done as babies. I think it is wrong personally but is happening more and more now. I even say a three week baby get his done a few days ago. Besides it does have a risk of infection. No I hate it!

My mother is from chile, and the area where the is from, it's traditional to have the baby girls ears pierced. She had a hard time finding someplace that would do it on a small child, but she was adamant about upholding tradition. For that reason, i think it is fine, but just for the sake of vanity, no.

No, I think that you should wait for a older age for piercing a girls ears.. I pierced mine only when I was 16, and I didn't suffer very much from not having earings up to this age...

Yes I think it's right to have a babies ears peirced. The younger the better. My mom got my ears peirced when I was about 1 month. I don't think it's just for the sake of looking like a girl. I think it's just a tradition that people have. Now a days I even see baby boys with their ear/ears peirced.

No, it isn't. Is such a person worth to be called a mother, who does something like that to her child? To cause pain to her child, just for to have fun to decorate her with earrings? My opinion is, it should be prohibited by law. Besides, it's her baby, yes, but she doesn't OWN the child. The child is a personality. Let her have her own choice, when she grows up!

No babys go through enough pain when they are teething why give them more pain

I dont think it is. I think they should let the child decide for her/his self when they are old enough.

I pierced my daughter's ears at 9 mo. not because she would look more like a girl, but because it was a cultural thing for my husband's family. They couldn't believe I waited so long.
