Do you think Kara DioGuardi is a good replacement for Paula Abdul?

I remember Paula saying in an interview that the 4th judge will be added to the show so that when she leaves the show, that person will be the one to replace her... The 4th judge (Kara)) was added first to the 3 judges, so that when Paula really decides to quit..the audience would have gotten used to Kara...so the change wouldn't be so abrupt...
For me, I think that Kara makes sensible comments too...so she's an okay judge....
but hopefully Paula wouldn't quit...because even if her comments are sometimes out-of-the-blue or over-the-top, AI wouldn't be fun without her...

I like Kara as the 4th judge, she's fair and she gives comments whether its bad or good. But I hope also that Paula wouldn't quit. I mean, AI wouldn't be the same without Paula Abdul. The trio judges was great and added kara, it was better. :) I love watching AI

i think that AI will still be the same without simon or the other guy. but i think without paula it will be totally different like something is kind of missing. but i would agree that the 4th judge gives a very good comment too and nice to watch and listen to whatever she has to say to the contestants or finalist.
but people have gotten used so much to paula i don't know if this will be the same without paula no matter how good and charming the new judge is. cause there is something about paula that we liked about her and that makes us love her and her comments and every thing that she does in front of the camera.

Kara is just okay for me, maybe because I'm not used to her yet. I don't want Paula to be replaced. She balances the air in American Idol ... it likes she is the light in the dark ... what am I saying? I'm being Paula ... LOL ... kidding =) She is really sweet and I think she is the easiest to please among the judges. I will miss her if the rumor will be true, I will miss seeing her and Simon fighting or playing around.

Kara's input and comments have been good for the show, imo. I think she has some great experience in the business. I'm not convienced that Paula is thinking of quitting. I think they were just building some hype around a change they wanted to make to the show. They obviously are just tweaking some things to keep things fresh. It is a smart move.

Kara DioGuardi is a good judge but I still Paula should stay. Two females with the other two male judges. Kara is good and sensible about commenting singers. She's a little more detailed in commenting.
As for Paula, she's the most fun judge in AI so it wouldn't still be the same without her in American Idol.

Kara gave nice comments yesterday (motown week show)...
you're right..she's more detailed when giving comments...
and i agreed to all her comments yesterday...
as for Paula, there were comments that i just couldn't stop saying "what???!!!"...ha!ha! but that's Paula...that's what makes her unique...

sweetseoul nice topic, i like when i have to think before i type. I heard the same as you she is an insurance policy in case someone walks. I think see has been OK i do not dislike her. To your other point I agree that there is something about the dynamic between Abdul and Cowell that is another interesting subplot to the show that would be missed if she left.

i don't really like the way Kara Dioguardi judges. i don't like Paula Abdul either. but choosing between the two, i will choose Paula Abdul. i know that Kara is a good singer but for me, she's like just going along with the other judges' comments. but then, if paula really decides to quit, it's okey. but i wish, AI would just find another judge. there are many great american singers who i think can and will judge well.
enjoy myLotting!

I heard the same, too. That Paula's contract is up and she didn't agree for more seasons. Although some of her expressions (Paula's) are weird, I like how she balances the show. I like how it balances the show with four people (two men, two women). It would be nice if Paula stays on AI, but it's completely up to her I guess to decide to stay. I really don't mind the new judge. She seems cool and I really don't see anything wrong with her.

I really like Paula and would hate to see her go, I think she is more kind hearted than the rest and wants sometime to give them a chance instead of just telling them no. I don't care for them putting in another judge I liked it the way it was. But the other one seems to give honest responses as to what she thinks the contestants really need to do to improve or if they have any talent at all. She to me just don't fit the image of the other 3. Hope Paula dont' go any where but she must be a busy person with the show and her own singing and videos

Paula plans on quitting? That's sad news. I hope she will not leave the show. I mean, she's been there ever since and it will not be the same without her and it will take a lot of time for a lot of people to get used to the show without Paula Abdul.
On to the next topic, I think Kara gives better advice than Paula. I mean, she's got a clearer insight into the music business, being a producer and all, and she doesn't hesitate in giving negative comments. Have you seen the last episode of AI where Paula and Simon had a little skirmish? I think, Paula should pick up her game and start meaning what she say. She should not refrain from saying what she really thinks so she should sound believable and not sympathizing all the time.
American Idol is a huge show and more than the judges, it's the contestants that pull the most audiences. If Ryan Seacrest will leave the show then I think that's when the real problem shows up. Or, if Simon will quit. I think Simon adds flavor to the show and love him or hate him, it won't be the same without him.

Hi there. Well, I wouldn't think AI would be the same without Paula Abdul. Kara is okay for me but one of the things I like about AI is the judges' interactions, particularly how Paula and Simon have lover's tiffs over virtually everything.

I don't think they should replace Paula with Kara, they can have all 4 of them together. But we don't want to get rid of Paula, do we? I really don't think Paula should leave the show. She's as much a part of it as Simon and Randy is.

I think American Idol producers would be crazy to let Paula leave without trying to convince her to stay, the new 4th judge Kara gives more balance to the judges. The only thing I worry about with Paula is she always appears to be drunk on the show, and hope she is not giving bad advise to the singers because of this.
