Why are people associating rice with Asians? Now due to the famous 'chicken lice' jokes and many other areas where Asians are shown to be dumb, nerdy and eat lots of rice. Think rush hour: the show with Jackie Chan. He was all about martial arts, speaking bad English and eating lots of rice. Or in Korean drama's the actors/actresses are always eating rice. so why is rice associated with Asians?

Of course, you are one of us. How about you? I am a Chinese, and I eat plain white rice often as it's my staple food. And the northerner are alway eat noodles in China, it's hard to see them eating rice. I studied at Shanxi for my college and saw a lot of different cultures.

I believe eating rice is a part of and a distinguishing character of asian culture. And usually cultures like traditions are built on what is available from the environment. Most Asian countries are blessed with land that is very good and adaptable for planting rice making it easily available. And thus making it a cheaper way to feed the population. All cultures do with whatever is abundant and since rice is that way, it became the staple food. Asians have been planting and eating rice for generations, even before the continent was discovered by the westerners.

It's our staple food. Rice is very abundant in asia. It's been cultivated in Asia likely over 10,000 years.
