I always look for some ideals in my life and writers are some of them. I have read so many writers. I also try to write for some sites and my blog but never felt that soul in my writing. That is what I want to know. What is the thing which, great writers do?

I think the thing that great writers do is OBSERVE. To gain enough ideas, to make characters real, to develop storylines...you need to know about the world around you. Great writers spend a lot of time observing and thinking about what they see and experience, then use those ideas to create stories. Another thing that they do is READ other writers. Every writer begins by being influenced by something they read. And, of course, the more you read, the greater understanding you have of how to use language effectively. Finally, writers WRITE. It seems obvious, but most aspiring best selling authors write much more material than they ever use. They write every day; they write to release all the ideas clogging up their brains, and then they really begin to sit down and create the stories that are their life's work. Then they go back and rewrite and rewrite until the story is a finely polished gem. Good luck with your writing!

I think it is something writers feel they need to do. Some people can express their thoughts easily in the spoken word, others find it easier to write about what they think. Writing is a compulsion. All artists feel compelled to be creative, and true writers are those who are creative in their craft. It comes from developing a love of words from an early age. A writer is usually someone who reads a lot. A writer does not just need to create fiction, or poetry, they can write in whatever form they choose. The difference between someone who writes and a great writer is in the creative use of language.

Writers write. Someday ,I too wish to be a great writer. I also know that greatness is realitive. You may already be great. If you love to write, write for writing sake. Sharing with the others in the universe is a wonderful thing. Writing, I think, is giving what no one else can. Your own thoughts are unique and one of a kind because they are yours. Think about some standard ways of putting them on paper or Not. Create your own syle-one that has never been seen! Know that great people always can indentify their "weaknesses" and what sets them apart from others is that they do somthing about them. Happy Writing!

Writers think I believe is the best response I can give you to this question. Writers take in all of their experiences and all of the characters that they meet in their lives and just really think about it. They try and portray their ideas and thoughts as vividly as possible through words. I love to read and the more you read I think the more you can really grasp how to write or at least draw influence off of them.

Try defining your audience. Even a person who is bad in English, who is lowly educated can write a very moving love letter. Many great writers write for their love ones, as we can see from the front page that this book is dedicated to so-and-so.

For me it is loving your characters and the story ,as you would love your own child . You always work at it to make the story better not settling for less. Your not to proud to go back again and change things . Though it hurts most the time when you have to change things you do it for the best of the story. And also when you love your chars. it shows in your writing and I think where the soul comes in :) . Also like other have said great writers read a lot . They also rewrite and rewrite . Also observing other people is good if you just in your own little shell and don't take time to notice other people and things it can show in your writing . Good luck with your future writing ^_^.
