I have been having these persistent milk cravings. Then I went online to research and found out that the birth control pill (that I have been taking to relieve my symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome) tricks my body into thinking that I am pregnant therefore depriving me of nutrients, therefore causing these cravings. ARRRGGHH. Anyone else have a similar problem? Do you know what you can do to get rid of these cravings?

My guess before you said WHY you were having these cravings was that you had a lack of vitamin D. Maybe taking that vitamin would help you with these cravings? Or maybe the only cure is just to eat them when you have the craving? I mean there are low fat, low calorie alternatives out there, if you're interested in something like that. Skim milk, low fat string cheese, etc.

Hi Jennlk84, it could vitamin D, but it could also have been other minerals and vitamins (such as calcium, folic acid, and iron). So I put my theory to the test last night when the cravings were especially bad - I ate a day's worth of multivitamins. Amazingly, the cravings went away.

I definetely agree with both posts that it may be just related to vitamin deficiencies. And I agree that taking a multi-vitamin would help. If this birth control pill is tricking your mind in thinking that you are pregnant that I would like to make a suggestion at taking a pre-natal vitamin to balance the depletion or at least consider it in leiu of a regular multi-vitamin. Sure you may get some strange looks from those around you, but hey if it works and makes you feel better than go ahead. And just always run these idea's past your physician or OBGYN to see if perhaps they may have a better solution. Since they are prescribing this pill they most surely would have had similar problems with other patients.
Thank you for the Post.
