Do you sell your unused items through auction site?

I just started this project of selling those un-used items on auction site (for me, it would be through yahoo bid site in Hong Kong). I have received a key holder as a birthday present but didn't think it was that useful for me and therefore I sold it through the site and I got some money out of it. *smiles*
Now I am thinking of digging out some stuff (which I have used at all) and try to sell through the site. I don't really care for the price, I just want to get the stuff out of the house without wasting anything. What about you?

If I sell things it's either through eBay or Marktplaats, the second one is a Dutch co-operation of eBay that does not charge you for the most things you list, but there is no buyer or seller protection either. Because this is a more local selling site most items are picked up by the buyer so there is less stress of not receiving your money, either than the person not showing up of turning down the item (in which case you haven't lost money on shipping the item or have lost the item itsself). It's a good way of making an extra buck and not wasting stuff.
Taking stuff to a thriftstore/second hand store is a good solution aswell. All profits go to sharity and it is not wasted because someone will be able to buy it.
You will be doing a good deed aswell .

I have sold some of my children's clothes and toys on ebay and did pretty well. I've also sold old cell phones when I've upgraded, and have also bought cell phones off of ebay. Another thing that is great is goig to the thrift store and buying things then selling them on auction sites. One thing people forget is that there is a collector for everything all over the world. And sometimes people are looking for something that may not be in their area but clear across in some other state or time zone. I love buying and selling on auction sites. I've found that I do better at that then when I try to have a yard sale.

I agree. I have gone to thrift stores as well. You would be surprised what people love to buy. The things I think wont sell do. Its harder these days being a seller on ebay. I plan for the fees and final value fee. If you do that you can do pretty well.

Yep I do. I am selling lots of unused stuff in ebay. Some items are new and some are used. Yeah it's better to sell the items off and earn some cash back rather than leave it to collect dust and rot. At least there's extra cash coming in.

I have not done this yet, but I am thinkin about it, if I ever find anything that I don't need, it might not be a bad idea to try and sell it through eBay. also, I have a cookbook published, and it might be good to try and sell a few copies through eBay.

First of all, I hope you will have a good online business:) I am also trying to sell something via the net. My business doesn't go very good as there are so many competitions. But it's OK, I regard it as a surprise if there is a business.

Hello wondericequeen,
Yes, I did that since three years ago. My husband introduced me to online shopping and a few local sites here where I can sell my stuff. I 'earned' some money from selling the stuff. Well, it is not to get back the money that I already spent for the stuff but at least, well I got some money and can get rid of the stuff from my house!

I've sold jewelry I've created on ebay before and a few used items but this past few years I have been donating more of my unused household items then I have been selling because I've been too busy to deal with selling online. I find it's easier to donate used items then it is to sell it,sure I don't make money from it but I feel that my donated items will go to somebody who really needs it . I might start selling used items again in the future but for now I donate .

Well, I used to sell some unused items and old things before but since i don't have much time to do that and i'm preoccupied with other important things, i don't sell them online anymore.. i just give it away to charity or to my relatives who are in need.. in fact, i have accummulated two bags of clothes from my closet that i'm not using anymore.. i'm planning to bring it to my cousin's place in the province.. hope time permits me to do so..

Well I have never tried auctioning my stuffs ever, but I do try to sell them personally, thru my connections or w/e. I hate selling old stuffs as the value really depreciates a lot, but at least I get something off of it. Cheers wondericequeen.

I sell a lot of my items on ebay. Every now ana again I will have a good dosrt out and get rid of any unwanted items. It's great for getting some extra money. If I'm unsuccessful with selling them on auction sites I will take them to a charity shop.

Sometimes I sell my stuff on ebay. But the price that they charge you is sometimes not worth selling your used items with. That by the time I am done I made under 5 dollars. Thats just not worth it to me. I guess if I had things that I could sell at a more expensive price it would be worth it

i havent tried selling anything yet, well for one, i dont know how.. maybe i should start searching for items that i can sell and then once i have them readied then i will try joining some websites where i could sell them, that really sounds funny and i am very interested in joining, i remember a saying.. "some people's waste are other people's treasure" and that's really true!

I have not tried selling my unused items through auction site. Most of the time I give them away. I wish I can monetize my unused goods. They are many being stored in my storeroom right now.

I could never get the hang of Ebay... ironically my parents are Ebay-aholics. However I like to post things on Craigslist that I want to sell, get rid of, or don't want anymore. I never have any luck on it though.
I will either get no responses, or I will receive questions of interest only to be lead around by so many people that just aren't sure. In the end, I sell nothing... but can always give things away for free on there. Go figure. Just when I want to make a few extra bucks.
