Smoking is said to relive stress and doctors would have a lot of that I imagine. We all have our addictions.

Hoho, I also see some doctors smoking.i guess they do mind it as what you said, its ruin. i have a doctor friend, he told me that smoking is bad habit but it is long time to influent your body and some doctors think it would not cause disease for sure, even the lung cancer, not as the truth they told us.
To me, doctors are normal guys also, they would make mistaken, and why not they might choose the wrong way to live?
It's so normal.

Well, personally I think it is the same with any other profession out there. Smoking is an addiction, and unless a person sees a need or desire, or has a Health issue to also make them consider quitting smoking, they will do it, and often think nothing of it. They are under a lot of additional added stress like a lot of other professions so sometimes maybe it might be a Stress reliever for them as well. Yes, people are more healthier if they do not smoke, but not everyone can do this for sure.

I think everybody will have a bad habit, including the doctors. Although everybody knows it is harmful to smoke, but once you are addicted to it, it is too hard to quit. Besides, it seems that people feel relaxed when they are smoking. In fact we know which food are good for us. However, if we only eat such kind of food in our whole life, isn't it a little boring?
I love China

i believe they are just like me, they got hooked so bad before they found out all the horror that comes with it and now just hope to be able to save some from it even tho they cant quit. in other words "do as i say, not as i do" the way mother used to state it to me

This is a good question. Yes, some doctors smoke because they are addicted to it and they enjoy it. Not only doctors, I think almost all the people who smoke know that it is not good for health. So, there is not a big difference that it is a doctor or any other layman...but doctors will be aware of serious after effects of smoking.

For the same reason that some doctors and nurses are severely overweight and uhhealthy. They are lacking in discipline and have a self destructive streak.

Knowing doesn't mean doing :-) We know a lot of useful thing, but not doing them. We know a lot of harmful or useless thing but still doing them. That's very human, including doctors. Only they are considered to be less professional, to let people thing that they aren't a good enough doctor, it would be disadvantage for the doctor and the patient ( which will make an excuse that smoking isn't too harmful )
