while I try to keep up with the latest in the charts, I also enjoy listening to some oldies like Abba, BeeGees, Lobo. They seem to refreshingly different and beautiful, and i seem to be liking them more and more. do you enjoy old numbers too? who are your favorite groups or bands?

Yes, yes, and more yes's! I have been thinking about this lately. It seems that during the 50's and 60's there were more songs coming out daily than a person could keep track of. Now it seems as if everything has to fit a certain mold. It is because creativity was not controlled by a few corporations back then. I can't begin to even list all of my favorites. I do have fun watching recent movies that take the old songs and use them. One of my favorites is "Ella Enchanted." I love any kind of Beatles music. They never seemed to sound "like the same old thing. Here are some groups that I liked also: The Hollies, Mamas and Papas, Monkeys, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce(?), Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Herman's Hermits, Beach Boys, Steppin' Wolf, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendricks, The Four Tops, Supremes, Gladys Knight and the Pipps, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Jefferson Airplane, Abba, BeeGees, The Village People, The Beatles Individual Albums, Animals, Jeanie C. Riley, Captain and Taneel(?), Tony Orlando, ELVIS-ELVIS-ELVIS etc. Wow, there were so many...........

Hi, i agree. I love the music from my generation and before, The Beatles of course, The Stones, Lynyard Skynyrd, Cream, Eric Clapton, The Grass Roots, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath,Iron Butterfly(In a gadda da vida),Rainbow, and many more then back even more with with The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Platters etc. These musicians were really muscians and didnt have all the studio magic to make them sound good. They really had to be able to sing. They live on because the music and the singing is still a cut above todays musicians. I have heard live some of todays groups, and they dont sound anything like they do on a CD, but the old groups sounded exactly the same, no magic fix for them. Go old music!
