It depends on the situation.Sometimes father supports and the mother opposes and vice versa.By that, they tell us the goods and bads and open a debate for what we like. So,I don't think a support as just support but a healthy argument in another form, where we can judge our desires.Cheers!

My mom is more likely to support me than my dad. My dad is great, he just has very strict ideas about what is supposed to happen. For instance, when I got pregnant with my son, he expected me to get married or give it up, but my mom supported my decision to become a single mom, and my dad eventually came around. I think you should seek support from both, but accept it where offered. If you make a decision and you have looked at all of the options and know it is the right one, it doesn't matter if you are 8 or 80, with support or not, you just have togo for it.
