We all have varied roles in life and of course, each entails responsibilities and appreciation for all the efforts exerted by us as well as the special people around us. Me being a teacher, I show my appreciation to my diligent students by praising them verbally and by giving them incentives (through high points/good grades) every time they perform a task quite exceptionally.. I love to give each one what they deserve.
How about you, how do you show appreciation to the special people around you? Thanks for the replies!

The special people around me are my very best friends, my teachers, and my whole family. They are the ones who always give me advice whenever I am in doubt of something, and most of all they are the ones who make my day complete for they share many treasured memories which makes my college life enjoyable. I show my appreciation to the special people around me by always being ready to lend a helping hand when they are in trouble, comfort them when they feel sad, and be there for them whenever they need someone to talk to.

verbal appreciation does work wonders,i use it on my own kids.i have often seen that a word of praise or back-pat does help to boost ones self-confidence.sometimes,an encouraging smile is enough to boost ones day.

I don't have people around me for the most part. But I keep in touch with those I love and tell them that I love them every so often. I like to send them cards in the mail for special occasions and sometimes just because there's no occasion. For others that I appreciate-a cashier, the mailman, etc.-I thank them with a smile and tell them I'm glad they are there doing a good job and that life wouldn't be nearly as pleasant without them.

For the special people in my life, I go the extra mile for them. If they need a favor and I can do it, why not. Sometimes they don't even have to ask.
