Do you want to migrate away from the Philippines? Why or why not?

I am having doubts about our country's future. I think it won't be long before the Philippines collapses from the pressure of the global crisis and all the government scandals. I am not being pessimistic, just being realistic. I want the best for my country and I am hoping that it will improve... but if it doesn't, then I'll be forced to leave the country for good! So, what do you think? Is this country still worth fighting for?

But for me as you said that you're only being realistic, you should realized to that most of the Filipino's, regardless of their colors, beliefs, traditions and qualities, they have the trait of being a good and a hard fighter. A fighter that will never give up during those times of difficulties and hardships. A fighter that has a never say die attitude like the Brgy Ginebra Gin Kings basketball team. :D Maybe to some point, Filipinos that are governing the country should be the one to blame if our country collapses its stability to sustain the needs of its people. Politics are the main reason for this, meaning the greed of acquiring power to profit and attain his/her or their personal interests.

if everybody starts going away, there'd be really no way to go for the philippines but down..although on the contrary, those who have gone away are the one keeping this country strong - OFW remittances.. but if you're talking about migration, i really dont think so.. my boyfriend lives in canada and he wants me to migrate there but i told him it's not the reason i had him as a boyfriend.. i know he wants out of that country too.. i just like to be able to earn some money and prolly if i've earned enough, i'd still go back here and grow old here.. there's no place like home.. even if it's a dirty home, it's still your own.. hehehe :)

Our country is always worth fighting for. It's not the country that's failing, it's the people that inhabit it. It's the system that governs it. It is always our duty to fight for our country no matter what the stakes are. For me, the only reason I'm migrating to another country is because I want to earn more. Let's face it, our economy isn't as stable and as promising as other countries and the only for us to get better pay is to work abroad. The money that we'll earn will still be sent to our relatives in the Philippines.. at least that's what I'll do. I'll even ask my relatives to open an extra account here so that I could just deposit money to that account and just leave it to grow. That's why OFWs are called "new heroes", it's because of this ideal.

I have no plans of living abroad although my three brothers are already there. I will just go abroad for a vacation but not to stay there forever. I already have a house and other properties here in the Philippines, so I would prefer to stay here.

I don't want to migrate away from the Philippines but I would if I have to. Nowadays, people have to be practical especially since there is a huge shortage of employment opportunities.

Well sad to say that 'money' and 'success' is not found here. Although there are some who are lucky enough not to leave the country because they have good and prosperous life in here. But we must admit, we have to be practical, if we want to live a good life, not only spending the little amount of wage that we get for working hard for the needs, we need extra dough for our future and emergency. And the best way would be working abroad and migrating. I don't mind migrating in US because I see my future there, but still would like to come back to PI at least 3x a year or maybe twice. When time and money allows. But no matter where I will be, I would still have the 'Pinoy Pride' in me. And nobody can take that away from me.

There is no place like home. A lot of Filipinos are migrating even before the crisis began and more Filipinos will migrate if the current situation doesn't change, which doesn't help the country either. I find it hard to answer your last question as I can not blatantly say yes, cause what could my reasons be but of sentimental ones. Today is a practical world and sentiments are not welcome in that kind of world. I also can't say NO because I love this country with all it's quirks and what-nots!

Hello inkyuboz! I planned to migrate to other country but not because I am hopeless with our government or economy here it is because my husband lives in the other country. I really don't intend to migrate now because of global crisis. In USA, thousands of people got laid off and no jobs. But since, my husband needs me there, I would go there. But we will come back here to retire.

Hi inkyuboz, good day to you. Well honestly speaking because our country economy are still going down together with the economy rate are also still going down. So i guess if i have a chance to migrate to other country, i think i will accept it, so i can work to other country and apply for a good job, in order to earn more money to support my parents, so they will no longer encounter the problem of money. As we know, most of us experience the Global Financial Crisis that causes for our country to get down and most of the other country. I think if ever i already in other place, my plan is to apply for any kind of job just to earn money. And if i already have a good amount of cash, i will go back here in the Philippines and i will start a small business for my parents then i will build a house for my family, and we lived there and stay happy together. But i think if i do not have a chance to go to other country, i will just stay here in our country then make hard to earn money, in any kind of jobs here in the Philippines. And i will just hope that our country will rise andto be more great. By the way i would like to add that in order for our country to rise, all us must be wise and good when voting in this coming election. Let's us vote those not corrupt, so will no longer to find some lost badget for our country. I will vote sen.chiz escuddro because i know he can make our country to rise. Well that's all my response to your discussion entitled "Do you want to migrate away from the Philippines?". Happy earning and happy posting. . . Mabuhay. . . =)

After graduation, I planned to work abroad and eventually migrate when things are okay already. I really think that with the current status of our economy, being successful is really difficult to attain.
