This morning my child had nothing, however when I picked her up from school, i saw her eye a bit red, and she told me that her eyes were hurting her. After an hour her eyes was all red and made me really worried, I took her to our doctor and told me that she has a big infection in her eyes. He told me that she could have touched eyes with her dirty hands. Well did it ever happened to your children? Can it be that she took it from school?

I think the virus has reached our shore. There are few members in my family having red eyes. Everyone seems to have caught it and it is quite infectious. Lucky I was spared. I believe my immune system is quite strong.

Yes this has happened, through school and day care. I know I've received colds in my eyes when the kids had bad colds. Kept their hands and faces clean and then I get the infection. Pink eye is also common and spread the same way I believe. Hand to eye contact. I think the most important thing is tell her to wash her hands as school, even this doesn't get rid of a lot of things but will help ward off it happening again.

It sounds like she has conjunctivitis to me which is very contagious she probably did pick it up from school. My youngest son had it a few weeks ago we took him to the doctors who said he had a raging case of it. She also said that my other children would probably catch it as well because it is highly contagious, but thankfully they didn't. He was given eye drops and his eyes soon cleared up.

Conjunctivitus which is properly known in my country as Pink Eye is very hurtful for a child. I have never caught it because I was fully vaccine against this. But when it comes to changing of weather children tends to have it. In my country it attack mostly in the late October or early November. It is nothing to be afraid of but please don't allow her to rub her eyes because it will only be spreading it more. As for the other members in the household always wash your hands and don't stare in her eyes. I am sorry that your daughter has caught this but she should be not attending school until she is heal so that it cannot spread. The way it is spread is in the air or touching i.e rubbing your eyes and not washing your hands. Take care and tell your daughter to always wash her hands. This disease is mostly caught in school or in close vicinity.

Even as a teacher I've caught pink eye from school. You'd be surprised at how many people don't know how to wash their hands properly and it doesn't take much. It could be a child who didn't wash their hands properly touching an item that your daughter touched, and her wiping her eye innocently. It's a very common disease found in the school yard, but one that luckily if treated aggressively can be dealt with. I would just advise her though that she needs to remember to always wash her hands first before she touches her face. This will also guard her against flus, etc. Hope she starts to feel better, there is nothing worse I think then the feel of pink eye. She has my prayers. Namaste-Anora

She most likely transferred staph germs from her hands to her eyes. That's how eye infections are spread. This is why we should wash our hands very frequently throughout the day. If I pick up my dog, I wash my hands after. When I get up from the computer I will wash my hands before doing any cooking or whatever.

It sounds like pink eye which is very contagious but with the use of medicated eye drops gone in a few days. You didn't say how old she is but honestly its one of those really hard to avoid things. I've had in and so have my kids. Plus if she is little the kids tend to hug and be close so it's hard not to get something like this.

Sounds like good ol' pink eye. Odds are that she brought it home from school, afterall they are exposed to so many kids and so many hands touching the same surfaces things are bound to happen. We had it when hubby somehow brought it home from work and eventually we all had it so wash your hands well and keep them out of your eyes and mouth. But just be aware odds are everyone in your household will get it. Good Luck!

Hi, GAUCI123! I am very sorry to hear about your daughter's eyes. It could have been caused by germs and what not. My kids have never experienced this before.. I am very sorry that this is going on. Just take care of your child. I did have an older 2nd cousin that had a pink eye real bad. It looked so irritated and sensitive. So, I am pretty sure that your child is experiencing this same kind of symptom. I am sorry that this had to happen. I hope that she will feel better real soon.

Your child has pink eye. And I don't know if everyone knows how it originated but it is an infection that is caused from not washing your hands after you have a BM. I thought I would let everyone know, but she had to get it from touching an infected person then rubbing her eyes. This is very contagious. Go to the doctor. He will give you drops & most likely tell you to wash your daughters eye with Johnson Baby shampoo too. She will not be able to go back to school until the pink eye is gone. Good luck.

Mother's milk is a natural antibiotic if you happen to be nursing or know someone who is put some Mother's milk in a clean dropper bottle and then put a few drops in your daughters eye. It will help and her eye should feel better. Mother's milk wont last long though if not frozen.

My son got pink eye from church, so in less than two hours he went from fine to sick. I'd be sure to let the school know it is highly contagious and they need to figure out where it came from and make sure other kids don't get it. Your daughter probably has it because some other parent failed to make that call and just sent their child to school and no one noticed. Also from what I was told pink eye comes from getting muscus in the eye or other bodily fluids and such things so making sure you DD washes her hands after using the restroom, before meals ect. doesn't pick her nose and in general keeps her fingers out of her eyes it will help prevent any future issues.
