I went to Miami to visit some friends a few years ago and they took us to wonderful places. I specially recommend the Everglades and Key West. ThereĀ“s a lot to visit there. The visit to the zoo was awesome too amnd to the seaaquarium. All that is alot less expensive than the more touristy places. And you can always take along your own sandwichs and beverages. In the Miami area there are also great places to shop and outlets to get all kingds of things at lower prices.
Take care

I visited Sanibel Island in Florida a few years ago. It's located at the very southern tip of Florida, if I recall correctly, near Fort Myers. It's the Key West atmosphere without all the people! It's not very crowded at all and has a very laid-back atmosphere. There are palm trees and other tropical plants, exotic birds, and beautiful sea-shells all over the white-sand beaches. It's also where the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean meet, so the fish and coral reefs are beautiful, and the water is nice and warm. It's very "home away from home" feeling. I would love to go again, and totally intend on doing so in the near future.

I LOVE Anna Maria Island! No tall buildings, fast food chains, or other commercial clutter. It's on the Gulf Coast side of Florida about 40 miles below Tampa. Anna Maria is just like stepping back in time... casual, relaxed and friendly. The beaches are powder white and the water is crystal clear and blue! Oh, and there is even a FREE Trolley that runs the island so you can just hop on, sit back and explore!
