Last night I watched a show were a child choked to death at school. The class was having a snack and began choking. The teacher wasn't trained in cpr, or the hymlick. So by the time the teacher got the nurse it was to late. So it got me to thinking. I think that it should be a requirement that teachers are trained in first aid. I mean a child can choke at a moments notice. If that teacher had the proper first aid training , this child may still be alive. It makes me worry about sending my daughter to school when she is older. I want to be sure that the teachers she has are trained in first aid. It is sad that a tragedy of this sort had to happen to a child.
So my question is are you childs teachers properly trained for emergencys? Do you think it should be mandatory for teachers to have first aid training? Would you try to get your school to train their teachers in first aid? Please leave your thoughts on this.
