Isn't it sad when you want something so much, you crave for something all so suddenly and you realize, "No, I can't." or, "No I mustn't" because it's gonna be bad for you?
Like in my case, I was on my way home last night when I passed by a coffee shop, the aroma of coffee, and mocha, and hot choco filling my nostrils. But then, I could only sigh because my stomach can't tolerate coffee anymore.
I have a stomach ulcer which tends to go on an "attack" when I drink coffee, or chocolate, or colas.
Do you skip on things you wanna eat or drink because your health or other circumstances prohibit you too?

Yeah, if its due to health reasons, I would always resist the temptation of eating things that would just make my condition even worse. Well, when I feel a little better, I would try taking those things again and instantly, I'd get sick again like before so, I always try to resist until I am sure that I pretty well and could come back to those things that I really like.

Hi margajoe, sorry it took me a long time to respond. I have been quite busy with a few things. Anyway, I am feeling good. I just stayed away from the food or drinks that would trigger anything.
You too stay healthy. I think you said you had back problems right? Awww....that's quite sad to hear.

Yeah, like Tofu. Tastes like meat but it's not the same. It's just well, it helps with the imagination!
I can foresee another kilometer-long conversation here!

I get this way with coffe at times too actually. It'll be late at night and I'll get this sudden craving for a cup of coffee. Of course the worse thing I can be drinking just before trying to go to bed is coffee, but every now and then I cave in and go for it anyway. It's not a very smart move on my part because I have enough trouble sleeping as it is, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! As for chocolate or candy in general, I don't care what time it is, or what the potential health outcomes may be, I'm going for it!

Could it be that your body thinks it mustn't sleep that's why it signals you to drink something with caffeine so it won't shut down? And giving in to that deceiving signal actually made matters worse?
Oh crap why am I even trying to analyze and interpret your body James? I forgot that the person who can fully understand your being isn't born yet?

I can't tolerate milk when my hyperacidity acts up too. You are right about milk getting acidic in there.

I don't usually cut back completely, but rather take things in moderation. Is it the caffeine in those products that bothers your stomach? Because all of the things you listed have caffeine, but coffee and cola are also acidic. If it is just the caffeine then you might enjoy a small coffee without the problems. You might need to learn how to enjoy a small amount, but it might be better then anything. I would recommend a latte which is mostly milk with only a little coffee. If you like it sweet you can add sugar, sweetener, or a syrup flavor. It will have a good coffee flavor (especially if you don't sweeten it) and only a little coffee. Just remember to make it a decaf!

Hi aiden.....
Yes, I think it's the caffeine in coffee and colas, as well as the acids in other drinks that trigger my hyperacidity. I'm careful with dairy products too because I am lactose-intolerant which gives me the same problem. But these are things I can't live without.
I think the biggest challenge for me now is to minimize intake of meat, and junkfood. A lot of diseases stem from faulty diet that's why I wanna change my lifestyle. I just find it so hard to do

I'm feeling the same way too.. i hate it when i'm deprived of the things i used to enjoy before such as sweets, red meat, etc.. I have got diabetes and obviously, i'm not allowed to eat any kind of sweets and yes, even red meat too(pork, beef, some parts of the chicken).. i'm also not allowed to munch on junk foods, salty foods, eggs among others.. yay! but i guess, that's what life is all about.. we don't get everything we wanted..

yes, i do that but not often. I usually just have what i want even if i know its bad for me. lol theres nothing i can think that i can't really have or but there are things i know that aren't so healthy so i try not to have them. i try to skip on them but if the craving hits too hard i might just give in a little and then work it off the next day lol

Oh at least nothing bad happens to you when you give in to your cravings right? Yeah that's right, try to skip on the REALLY harmful ones.
Gee, I do crave for coffee so bad sometimes. :-(

Truly sad but we have to control our cravings. I also experience that whenever I have to cut down on sweets or carbohydrates. The smell and appearance of these foods are enticing.
If we would think of the benefits to our health and well being, we woud have the courage to control our cravings.

I guess the craving is because we are prohibited from having them. temptation is bliss, sometimes. Hehe. We do crave for these food because they are our favorite wwhich later on caused us our problems. So that even if we ended up with a problem already, the craving just didn't stop.

Yes!It happens in my life too.The mind urges to take but the body will not be ready. It is the mood that wins the game. But it is always wise to abide by what the body needs or we will suffer later.Just talk to the mind,be kind enough to remain silent now and I will feed you tomorrow. We have to be the boss and the mind will surrender if we take that stand.Cheers!

I have high blood pressures that I'm being prevented to drink coffee. Coffee is my life before, that even not allowed today from time to time, I still drink coffee. I tried not to at present however, as I experienced chest pains, though am really craving for coffee. I settled for hot chocolate and milk tea instead though I feel very much differrent compared to have coffee. After a week perhaps I can try again, will just make it a lighter coffee with a heavier cream. I just hope I won't encounter chest pains anymore.

HI bing, it is hard when we are stopped from doing the things we love or from eating or drinking the stuffs we used to love but sometimes we do need to look out for our own health. Getting sick really causes a lot more bigger problems so yes, an ounce of prevention Is indeed better than a piund of cure.
As for you, I guess you can steal a few illegal sips, hehe just to satisfy the craving and then skip for days or weeks. I just needed to warn you that creamers are also high in fat which may later on cause you more problems with your hypertension. Creamers contain trans.fats which are actually the most dangerous of all fats.

i also have an ulcer but not because of anything else but of me not eating anything or not on time. if my health or some factors prohibits me to take, eat and do those things because it might jeopardize my health, then i will really do it. i would stop eating those foods that may trigger the effects of it in my body and i will end up sickly.

Oh that is really bad if you have an ulcer then. I think if your doctor advice you not to have it then maybe its worth that you avoid this drinks at all. Ulcers can pretty much affect your lifestyle especially in the food that you eat and also is a lifetime health problem that you have to maintain and watch out for.

Yea it happens to me too, i love coffee a lot but i cant get it because i am having problem with my sleep this past few months. Doctors recommend me to stop stimulants like that, coffee and colas. I bet you can just order decaffe then if that will satisty your cravings. I like my decaffee now.
happy mylotting and Smile Always!

I know how hard it is to 'ban' the food or drinks that you like because of health reasons. I love coffee but I too have stomach problem. Each time I drink coffee, my gastric flare up. The pain that I have to suffer just because of a cup of coffee make me wonder whether it was worth it? I say, for my own good, I would just skip the coffee altogether although the temptation is always there.

That's exactly why I had to ban coffee in my diet. I'm not really a coffee addict but I used to be okay after drinking. NOw, it's differnt so I do feel deprived sometimes.
