Since my student days, with my interest in geography and cultures of countries around the world, I have an affinity to read stories and novels with different country backgrounds. And, those which have exploration and travels in the background. Kipling is one of my favorite authors. How about you dear myLotters ? What kind of stories and novels do you like to read ?

when i was in the university, my favorate novel is Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea.
I have read the novel with two versions, one is the English, and the other one is the Chinese version that is the translated one, I think it could no translate all of Hemingeay's meaning fully.

"The Old Man and the Sea" is definitely one of my favorites too. I like reading Ernest Hemingway's novels very much. I didn't know there is a Chinese version too. That's very good.

I like to read, horror, suspense, thriller snd action novels. I love to be taken away in a daze of scariness.. Anything that can take my mind off os stress is a plus! I love to be scared silly! So, if I can read it and love to feel what it can do to me, then it is my book!

Hi greenline! I am more of a fictional reader! I prefer to
read lighter novels usually. I love to read mysteries! I
am an avid mystery novel fan! Sometimes they do take me to
far off lands so I do get the benefit of both travel and
mystery in one! It has been quite awhile since I have read
a historical novel or a geographical novel I am sad to say!

I have a series that to my horror had the last book come out not long ago. It is writen by terry Goodkind. Its the sword of Truth novels. The first book is called Wizards First Rule. They are fanstasy books but have such messages in them. Each one has a new rule. And the story was so good I couldn't put it down. They even started a tv program on it called "the Seeker" The tv show doesnt follow that close but is still fun to watch.

My favorite kind of books to read are usually memoirs because I like to hear peoples personal stories that are true. I also like Chuck Palahniuk's books because they are crazy and bizarre frequently so it totally makes up for them being fiction which I usually can't get into.

During my school years, I enjoyed reading history, especially Chinese, Roman and Greek history. These are interesting to read, though I hated remembering dates and events for history tests. Now my favorite genres are mainly crime, murder mystery and horror - quite unrelated to my schooldays.

I like to read science fiction, medical fiction, and thrillers. There are also other novels which I read. Few of the best authors I have read are, Robin Cook, Paulo Cohelo,....
Reading novels and stories gives pleasure to me. It's the best thing one can do in free time.
