At what age did you stop making your children take naps?

Mine just stopped taking them on their own. But if their behavior continues to be awful with out one then you still work one into your daily routine somehow.

I do child care from my home so I'm always curious. DD took a nap till she was 4, all my kids did but I have watched several children younger than that who just would not nap even though they acted very tired and crabby.

Sounds like they'd probably need their wake up and bed times adjusted to either make the nap happen or get a better nights sleep. My 6yo gives me such a hard time getting up in the mornings if she goes to bed later than 8pm.

I have a five year old child right now and I don't think that I ever stopped making him take naps. Some children differ from others when it comes to their sleep time habits. My son has a usual time for night time to rest however naps pretty much ceased when he was around two years old or so. If I had my way my son would probably take a nap in the middle of the day! But that is alright. Children have a lot of energy and if my son has a day where he is playing a lot more than usual then bed time is a cinch! It really isn't hard to get my son to go to sleep at night time however if it came down to trying to put him down for any kind of nap at this stage of the game would probably prove to be quite difficult.
