So to all the cloth diapering divas out there, what is the best detergent to use on cloth diapers? We are TTC number 4 and going to give cloth a try this time around, so I'm very curious, also do you use the same detergent then for all your other items? I'd like one I can use for everything and maybe a couple choices so I can see what we like best for our clothes now and then just continue to use it after baby.

I have two words for you: diaper service. Washing urine diapers would be easy enough but that other kind... I applaud you for wanting to use cloth though you may still want to have disposables for "emergency" use.

Forget emergency use I'll keep sposies on hand for daddy use, lol. I'm not worried about washing them myself I just know that because of the materials used to make cloth diapers certain detergents are better than others, I just know know which ones.

I would go with the ones for baby clothes or the ones that have no dyes or perfumes. You're going to want to put them in a special bucket with water (do diaper pails accomodate that?) and have something you can agitate them with like a stirring stick and then a strainer of sorts so you can pour the resulting liquid waste in the toilet.
This is a really important point, your plumbing has grey water and black water and you don't want to pour certain things down the drain and you wouldn't want to use a sink for this.
You can probably use things like vinegar and baking soda to help clean and freshen and whiten the diapers. You are a brave soul, but I just remembered there are these cotton pads that you can line the cloth diapers with so they don't get soiled by stools.
