I had falling a sleep with the tv on and when I woke up in the morning they had it on and I thought it was a movie and I just turned it off and got in the shower. Got ready for work and in the car it was on every station and that is when I relized what had happened.

I was talking to my friend on the telephone when she said "Oh my god" and then we watched it with each other in silence on the television eventually saying goodbye to try and get in touch with friends in the area.

I was watching TV, I think it may have been Ch10 late night news, when a live report came thru about what had happen, I was sitting watching it when the second plane hit, I couldn't really sleep that night, I spent the night watching all the horrors unfold. I didn't want to watch but at the same time I had to.

I remember sitting in the kitchen trying to wake up. I had a cup of hot tea and was watching the news trying to catch the weather. My oldest daughter was supposed to be on a plane flying to a veterinarian conference on the west coast and I was curious about the weather for flying. I was a total nervous wreck until I heard from her, it several hours later when she finally had a chance. The first plane hit and they cancelled her flight immediately and she didn't even get on the plane. I was so relieved that she was not on a plane, but I cried so hard for all the people perishing elsewhere.

I am so glad for you that she was not on any of those planes. I can only imagine how scared you were.

I remember vividly lol.. I was sleeping and my radio next to my bed kept going off about terrorists and come explosion. I figured it was just another bombing or something and turned it down a bit and fell back asleep. I heard the people on the radio start getting really upset and i rolled back over and turned the volume up a bit. I heard something about the world trade centers and planes and so i figured i ought to get up and go check out the Telly and see what's going on. I turned on the TV in the living room just in time to see footage of a plane slamming into the second WTC. I rushed into the bedroom and told my bf at the time he needed to come check this out. He came out there and his jaw dropped. We sat on the coffee table right in front of the TV watching in complete awe as the towers collapsed. We were going to go into town that day, but EVERYTHING was closed. The malls, stores, seemed like everything was closed. We ended up sitting on the couch all day watching the news.
Oh.. and right after i woke up and seen what was going on i put in a tape and started recording. It wasn't necessarily a morbid thing, it was more the fact that now i have a video tape of the original newscasters reactions to what happened and all the original footage etc. When my son gets older and learns about what happened or they talk about it in school, i'll have that video that i can show him.

I don't think a lot of people thought about recoeding it. I have thought about calling my local news cahnnel and seeing if I could get a copy of it.

I agree that it's good to record current events whenever possible so that you can not only have the record for yourself and your own memories but, also, if you have kids (or are someone who knows kids), this is a way to show them that history is very real and not just the memorization of facts for getting a good grade on a test.
At different times, I've recorded when major events have happened and, also, get in the commercials, other shows, other news, etc. It makes it all that much more real.

I was watching TV and there was a live transmition and practicly I was in the middle of the events. The reporter was stoned by the events. He couldn`t say anything. He trembled. Hard times....

I had just gone to sleep after getting off work. My mom called me and told me to turn on the t.v. I did and I was still trying to make sense of what was going on and the second plane hit. The first words out of my mouth to my mom was "whoever did this is going to be very sorry" then the last plane hit the pentagon and I freaked because my son's godfather was working there. I don't think I will ever forget where I was, the feelings, even the smell (i had knocked over a cup of coffe getting to the t.v.), anything about that morning.

Did your sons god father make it ok? I cointed my self lucky beacuse I had no one anywhere near any of the plane crash but I felt nothen but grief for those that did. My heart went out and is still going out to all those who lost a loved one on that day.

how was for you living in NY when it happened? I don't mean to be to be mean by asking that I have never had a chance to talk to someone who lived there in such a horrible time.

Wow. I fall asleep with the tv on too. And I also awoke to the news coverage that morning. I was sort of dreaming about what was on the tv..Then woke up and realized it was real.
