Why Are They Afraid to Die???

Just across the border (my border) in South Carolina a young man is in court for murdering a local businessman in cold blood. He walked out of the store calm as if he had just bought an item. Once the cops finally saw him, they had to chase him for 15 miles. To make a long story short, this guy slipped over the border into Canada where he knew he couldn't be extradited under the threat of the death penalty. He has managed to get life in prison. This has made me think of the attitude of other murderers who see nothing wrong in killing another human being...some of which have said they don't believe in God & therefore do not fear going to hell as it doesn't exist. Yet, when the times comes for them to face the death penalty, they plead for their life & fight a death sentence. I wonder why they think the person they murdered wanted to die anymore than they want to??? I have never had a friend who murdered someone else so I have no clue how they think; however, I have had friends who were murdered for NO reason. Can any of you explain to me the mentality of a murderer???

Hi LadyM,
We just do't know the minds of a muderer but they may not believe in hell but their souls would never rest and would be torment for eternaity and that is their hell, as there would be no forgiveness.

I do not believe in forgiveness for crimes like the one mentioned here. However, if a person is tormented until one day they turn and kill their tormentor that is different. Every crime is different. That is why circumstances must be considered.
To be a murderer is to plan the killing ahead of time but there might be circumstances that caused a person to want to kill someone so much that they planned to kill them so they could not torment them any longer or torment any one else. Some people would call that person a saviour for removing an evil person from the world permanently.

I think a murderer is someone who is really really scared of life... I mean he is always afraid of himself dying. He is a coward. Its a very simple question having a very simple answer...
Why does a person kill someone ?
Maybe because the victim is a threat to the killer's life... So to safeguard his own life or his happiness, or his material wealth or something, this guy kills the other. So basically killers, murderers are just cowards...
Take care buddy...

He may well have just wanted to kill someone. There are people who just like to kill and the victim means nothing to them other than a target. This type of person is the dangerous type of killer as they will do it again given the chance.
I do not think he is scared of life. He just wanted something and was willing to remove anyone who stood in his path. Some people see this sort of killing as no different than playing a computer game where the only purpose is to kill your opponent.

If the crime was done if passion I can see killing someone because you lose your mind for a period of time. It does not make it right and it does not mean you should not get the same sentence as you gave.
I think some people do not have the same respect for other human lives as we do our and think nothing of others dying while they think they are more important.

I cannot even begin to try to fathom the mind of a murderer. It's a cowardly act, although there may very occasionally be mitigating circumstances. I suspect though that for all of us, murderers included, their is a survival instinct that comes to the fore when our lives are threatened. Be that on the street or strapped to the electric chair etc.

These people who kill they just don't think of the consequences of their actions, we can also say that they're just lying in saying that they're not afraid to die.

They can think enough to buy a weapon & determine the best way to use said weapon. Then they don't have enough sense to think of the consequences of their actions. I can't think of a reason to keep them here to not think again!!!

I think that even if they say they don't believe in Heaven and Hell when it comes down too it they are just not sure and would prefer not to chance it.

There could be only one explanation. The murderers are not the normal human beings with the human mind. They are sick and sickeningly selfish to do the gruesome thing for their pleasure or gain.As they are too self centered their own life is so precious and sweet to them than the innocent lives they snuff out without a remorse or reason. Can we find a reason for the doings of the fiends?

Murderers are just as much individuals as anyone. There is no single reason why they kill and they all see their victims differently. Some people kill by accident and I suppose are strictly man slaughter not pre planned. Some kill because they hate the person. It could be personal or they just might hate their gender or job or whatever. Some kill just because they have the opportunity and the tools to do so. Others kill because they just love to kill. These are the ones they say start killing animals when young. I am sure there are even more reasons than that.
Just because they kill others does not mean they want to die. In fact they usually want to live. More often than not they think they are superior to their victims and do not believe they should be punished.
I am not sure there is anyone who does something for no reason. It might not be a reason that we can discover and it might have just been a spur of the moment thing but there was a reason. The person wanted to kill and they had the chance. This sort of murderer is very dangerous as they will probably do it again if they have the same opportunity. They usually feel no guilt or remorse and that makes them likely to kill again.
