The latest known computer threat is the Conflicker C worm. It is set to go off on April 1, 2009...April Fools Day in the US. At this point they have NO clue how it works or the damage that is planned. Will you start your computer up on April Fools Day or will you choose to be safe rather than sorry & lay low that day??? Have any of you heard anything about this worm so we all know what to be watching out for??? Do you have a good antivirus program installed on your computer or do take your chance with fate??? What are your thoughts on the subject???

You know, if these jerks would channel their genius into something constructive they could probably all be rich! I hope they catch the person and throw them in jail and throw away the key.
I'll be updating my virus and firewall protection, etc. I may not turn on the computer on April 1, I haven't decided yet.

What I found interesting is that the group trying to bust this/these jerk(s) all used to be hackers themselves who now get their jollies busting hackers. I have a good firewall/antivirus program that updates itself as need be. It seems to stay on top of the latest threats. I may be sorry on 04/02 but I doubt that I'll be hiding!!!

OMG, you sound like my brother...Your time is coming!!! Linux used to be able to brag about the same luxuries. Now they can't as somebody figured out how to get them too. Mac is next. Re the antivirus proggy...better to be safe than sorry is my thinking!!! Better to have it & not need it than need it & NOT have it!!!

I hope I have not gotten the virus I have loaded the updates as prescribed to do. My web page went down yesterday for a few minutes. I had to reboot it. I do not know what that was all about.
I do have a April fools thing I heard on the radio.
One DJ had a bunch of her friends call the radio and request songs that they did not play for another DJ. When she came in to do the new and found out he was fooled. He played a trick on her. He asked her to watch the booth for a second while he went into the back for something.
He left the station for over 20 minutes and he had a worker from a 7-11 call the station and tell her where he was and wanted to know if there was anything she wanted from there.
Then he called her a few minutes later to say while he was out he needed to get the oil changed in his car. I think that was so funny. A few minutes later the phone rang again and it was the oncoming DJ calling in to say she was going to be late and Eric the one getting his car serviced said it was OK.
Did you some one pull an April Fools joke on you?

Try these 3 sites...
http://www.mcafee.com
http://www.symantec.com
http://www.microsoft.com
If these 3 sites don't open on your computer, it means you might have a virus. If they do open, it's supposed to mean you're safe for now. I know with every little thing that goes wrong with my computer, I'm thinking...hmmm, virus??? The last Firefox update is supposed to protect from this worm. Microsoft is supposed to have done an update months ago to combat this worm too. Zone Alarm did an update. Don't know about any of the others but I'm sure a lot of them have done something to help protect your system.

I have a great antivirus program also. I still like to hear when a threat is coming so I can make sure I have the most current update!!!

I am not really worried. I have an antivirus installed and as of yet I have never gotton any type of virus. I am sure it will hit some people, but I am not going to be one of them. I will most likley use my puter on that day.

I was just reading about that a few minutes ago. I have to admit, I am a little bit nervous about it. We have antivirus stuff installed on all of our computers, but it sounds awfully nasty, so it does still make me worry a little bit about if our protection will be sufficient. I think we'll be ok, but it still makes me a tad nervous. My inlaws will actually be coming in to visit soon, and that will be their first day here, so I probably just won't bother using the internet much anyway, since I'll probably be busy visiting with the family. I guess maybe that will be good timing! I just wish these people who come up with all these viruses would get lives and find something productive to do with their time! I never quite understand what they really get out of it!

One hacker that was caught was on TV. He said that he was simply trying to get the attention of Bill Gates to prove that he deserved a job at Microsoft. His resumes had been ignored. I find it sad that he didn't think of ALL the peoples' lives that he was affecting!!!

I'm with p!kef!sh...I too have a Mac computer and don't have anything Windows related since it's not a PC type computer--ny browsers are Safari and Firefox. Most viruses are geared for PCs...all the more reason to get a Mac huh? I've had my computer for two years now without the least bit of a "hiccup"
