Could not afford the piano keyboard

As any of my friends know, I have been debating between getting a piano keyboard, and a frying pan. I was going to use my gift cards and put the rest on Mastercard, but I found that I cannot afford to charge anything. Actually I can, but it seems that with the money I make on line and my pension, that the piano keyboard is a luxury. The frying pan was half off, it is a good quality one and I was able to get a good knife and a cutting board, but I might as well put the money into my bank and gain the interest and get the piano keyboard later on.
So has any of you wanted something so badly and then had things go wrong or having them delayed? Unfortunately I am unable to blame one of the ones I believe is partly to blame.

Sorry to hear you were not able to get the keyboard. I don't think there is anything I could not get that I really wanted because, materalistically speaking, I don't want much.

I think there are things that we really need that turn into wants or luxuries and you say to yourself I really do not need that. It has to do with your talents and what could make your life easier. For instance, if you were a wonderful cook, you could use a Cuisinart so that it would save you from chopping up the vegetables and in making pasta or dough, but if you cannot afford it, you say you do not need it.
Now when my husband was deciding to sell the house and move into a senior's home, I said we do not need the piano keyboard and I know he would not want a big piano, but he would have accepted a digital piano keyboard because it could move around so easily. But now that we are staying here, the piano keyboard would help in my singing, esp. since I am going to sing solos at the church concerts and need all the practice with a real piano and not just by myself.

You are so right! I think we do that. I believe that is what I do, too. I am glad you are staying in your house. You will be happier. I wrote you a note, but I do not think you received it. I asked if you have a facebook account..

Now that the interest rate is down, then it looks like I cannot buy anything - have to wait until I get all those gift certificates. Yes, i will have to tell them to send them to me or will make sure that when I go grocery shopping, I see if there is a good sale on at Safeway. I get airmiles there.

I want to get a better keyboard. It is just that I needed it for singing and I am the type of person who believes that I cannot what I need, then I might as well get something that I consider a luxury like an ipod. So I was trying to resist that. I am trying as many excuses as possible not to get one yet, such as it is too cold to go to Best Buy, the one at Sears is black, not white as I want it to be (so I did not get an Ipod at Sears), I am expecting friends over, I need to keep the money in the bank for my Mad money, I cannot buy anything until I have so much basic money in my bank accounts, I have to get the Mac first, I do not have enough free audio books to put it on, and if those are not enough, I will think of some more excuses.

I am going to wait until Christmas. Then the regular ones will be on sale and then the basement should be finished so I can put it down there.

Well I needed both the piano keyboard and the frying pan and probably could have gotten both, but the keyboard I really needed was the regular one and the two they had at Sears was the small keyboard and the new 76 keyboard. There is a regular 88 keyboard that is offered in the Christmas catalog but the gift card runs out by then. Anyway I got the frying pan, but it was half off, so I got a good kitchen knife and a cutting board as well. And I decided that had I gotten the keyboard I would have to use some of my own money, and I did not want to do that.
I am also thinking of getting the smaller frying pan since my other non-stick frying is not that good.
And will wait for Christmas for the piano keyboard.

I've had to do without a lot of things I really wanted but I keep telling myself they're only things. Doesn't help much, though.
I'm sorry you couldn't get your keyboard, it would have brought you a lot of joy.

I guess I am stuck with my spinet keyboard, but it does not have a good sound. It is also very heavy. That means if I want to practice my singing, I have to go to my friend's house or we have to get the key and use the Church's piano. And then it depends on my other friend who is a church pianist having the time as she is also a teacher in the school.

That has happened to my husband a number of times and it has really pi$$ed him off. "Certain people" (not me!!!) keep emptying his accounts by means of the "guilt trip" and he keeps getting suckered. So I finally said "Eff this" and took over the finances. I set up a savings account for him that he can't even get to, and now when he wants something special, he can get it!!!

I find now with my singing, that I need the piano more then ever. We do have an organ but even I set it at piano, it does not sound the same. Right now I am also saving for a laptop and want a good one, so I am saving for at least three things. What I have to fight against is the "you don't need that," but 'you need that," and with my feet and my having to get large sized clothing and the shoes costing about $100 and the dresses about the same amount, it will not take long before there is no money left for the digital piano let alone a laptop. And with the interest rate as low as it is now, it is hard to take money out of the bank.
