More then successful, I have to make a ton of stuff before I can even schedule another one. Someone told me that with the economy the way it is people are buying smaller things to satisfy their need to spend a little....well they spent alot. The gal next to me too had a very good sale! Hope if any of you are doing a sale soon you have a very successful one too!

Hey jill! I'm glad that your craft sale worked out so well! And I do think that you're right about people buying smaller things to make thenselves feel better! I know that's what I would do too! If I go into the dollar store and buy something it makes me feel better so I would love to go to a craft sale and shop for sure! I think that's a great way for you to make money! I wish I was crafty!

I have to start doing my crafts again. My hope is that hubby can take the items to a local flea market on the days I am working and set up the sale. Items that are well made and low priced do sell! I also plan on doing some baked goods. Who in their right mind wants to bake in the summertime? Me I guess! But, I believe that cookies and breads would sell pretty good.

That is a great idea. They would be wonderful for special events and weddings too!

I think if you promote your things in the right way...making sure the customer feels special..you will sell...one thing I sell alot of is covered tic tac...or the small mints from the dollar store....I cover them with pretty paper and add a bow.....(through an eyelet) sell them for fifty cents and even the kids buy them...they are a good seller at all of my craft sales.

Hi jillhill, That's Great ! You have shown that there is still hope for crafters trying to sell their crafts . Be proud , you must have just the things that shoppers are looking for !

Hotdog a roonie! Am so happy for you. I love to hear successful stories about craft fairs/shows. What was your biggest seller? I won't be doing any this summer unless it's indoors and not too expensive to get a booth. Some of the fairs want too much for a weekend or even a day. The heat here in the summer is a killer and I can't take it anymore. So it looks like I'm not doing anything with my crafts this spring and summer. I have big tears rolling down my face. Feeling sorry for me yet? lol

I tried Etsy for a year and sold nothing. Probably my fault for not pushing my items.

My biggest money makers were believe it or not....my framed and matted poetry! I had several people buy more then one....I also have alot of small items that even kids can buy....like tic tacs that are covered with bright paper or butterflies etc...sold a ton of them! But basically I sold a little of everything....

WTG! Glad the economy is not effecting your sales too much. I have a friend whom has invited me to be part of her craft sale. However I don't know that I'll have the time to make anything much by fall. I have already 2 projects on the back burners after the blanket I'm working on. And the sad thing is I don't have the money to buy more yarn right now...

I do always have a bunch of little things...and that was a great part of my sales...so if you are worried about having a bunch of big things...think smaller!

It is because of the selling a lot and having to rush to make more that I am taking a break from the markets and concentrating on the fall and hoilday inventory so that when that time rolls around I will have more than enough stuff.

Well, I have made Potholders in the past, and have done quite well with them. There for a while I was selling them faster than I could make them even. But I have not really tried selling Craft type items since I had some of my craft items in a Craft consignment type shop. I have bought Yarn again with hopes of being able to make and sell potholders again, but just never gotten around to considering getting them made as well.

Congratulations and Good Luck on your next one. Great for the gal next door, too. I guess when they mean smaller things they mean less expensive. Especially, if the items are on sale; not for sale. Where ever you go everyone is budgeting and are keeping their limits.

My framed and matted poetry was a big sellar....I paint on the glass, roses etc....for some reason I sold a ton of them. Maybe with the economy the way it is people are feeling closer to their loved ones? I don't know for sure....but it was very weird!

I am glad to hear you have done well. I think people are looking more for handcrafted and quality along with reasonable prices. Always glad to hear that a fellow crafter did well. I hope you next show is just as successful. good luck to you!

That's great! The show I did last week was not very well attended, but those that did come to the show, were buying handmade items. The show wasn't bad and I've done other shows with many of the vendors, so there was much chatting and info sharing about future shows... I made more than 3x my fees, so in all, not a waste of time. I'm glad to hear you did so well....don't you love shows when you have so very little to pack up at the end of the day? Of course that means you have a bunch of hours to put in at your craft table... but it must've been a great feeling to walk out with a good deal of $$!

THe gal next to me and I did very good...others didn't fair as well. First of all I think crafter need to bring their crafts and tables up a notch...I saw some very messy presentations of their products...I also don't think that walmart bag belong at craft sales...I consider my tables to be a traveling boutique....so I have nice table coverings...nice bags.....and I dress up! By Sunday though I did see some ladies down a bit from me wearing jackets and nice clothes instead of the sweatshirts they had been wearing. I think if crafters want to be successful it's time to make sure they are presenting themselves as artisians.....Its' just my opinion.

Well, good for you. I hope you get busy and get all the things done for the next one. Have you ever thought of teaching them how to do things while your doing the sale. As it seems like something that mite be fun. As some people need other people to show them how as reading one of them crafts books is confusingand like me don't understand them. I mean really how are you to crocket something when you have no idea what there talking about. My grandmother showed me how and there was no wording involed. just brain storming as your really good with that kind of stuff. Your friend onlydia. Oh yes I got a first edition book Horses Make a Landscape Look More Beautiful. Poems By Alice Walker. It is a very good book.

I have not done that as it's too busy to stop and try to teach someone when you have a crowd....but I did invite one of my friends a few years back and she sat in my booth and did beading....on a frame...she does wider braclets with designs in them...and she ended up getting a few orders....Good for you on reading poetry!!

What do you sell in your yard? just craft or everything you want to get rid of? And how do you set the price? I am thinking to do a yard sale this summer too, since I never done one so I wonder what I should do. Sorry for so many questions. Thank you very much and wish you get good profit next time! :-)

This was a craft fair that was at our mall...you pay for a space. It's crafts I make and I also sell my books...I might have a yard sale with a few crafts myself this summer but I'll have to see how many other sales I can do at festivals or art fairs.
