Did you get to enjoy time with your great grandparents?

Hi everyone. We were just looking at some old family photos and my daughter was asking about her great grandmother. She never got the chance to meet any of her great grandparents from both sides as they all passed away before she was born. I also didn't get to spend time with my own great grandparents. I do have an aunt who already have great grandchildren. She's 81 now and she's having a wonderful time with them. How about you? How is it like having a great grandparent around? Thank you for sharing your story. Enjoy life!

I'm afraid I never knew my great grandparents either, but my Mum is a great grandmother of ten. She's just 84, so I guess we made that possible for her by having our own children quite early in life, so that they've grown and have families of their own. Mind you, I had some wonderful times with my Grandad on my Dad's side... he was great, so I don't really feel I missed out on too much! Brightest Blessings.

I was the firstborn grandchild to my grandfather, and although he'd really wanted a grandson, he treated me like a queen... well, except for when he insisted on taking me to soccer matches, but then, I grew quite fond of them too. I loved spending time with him, even though I had all four grandparents to choose from. You're welcome my friend. Great discussion!

Hello Darkwing. Your children are so lucky for having that experience. I'm happy that you have wonderful memories of your grandfather. The only grandparent I got to spend time with was my grandma on my mom's side. I am so grateful for all your responses, Darkwing. Have a happy weekend!

HI Friend, I love to spend my time with my grand mother. I lost my grand father last year. So, I try to keep my grand mother happy and try to do work which she likes. It's always pleasure to have grand parents, where you have great real experiences from them They tell you stories of their real life, stories of their hard times as well as their good times' . I have just a message to those people who have grand parents and don't care and spend time with them. Do give your time to them because they are the real people who can show you the path finely, which you can take and get success in life. Get as many as blessings you can because blessings are also as inportent as real money.. Good bye

Hi elmolovesu! I never knew my great grandparents although my great grandmother was able to take care of me until I reached my second birthday. But I really don't have any recollection about her. I just knew that she loves me very much and she always wants to be the one taking care of me when she was still alive according to my mom. However, my grandmother from my father side is still alive. Thank God for He is still lending her to us. We love her very much. She is 86 years old and she is enjoying the company of her great grandchildren whom she loves very, very much. My nieces and nephews (my brother's children) simply adore her and we all come to our grandmother's home every Sunday to spend the whole day with her. It is always happy Sunday for all of us. Take care and blessings to you. lovelots..faith

Hi dear friend! Yes we are all very lucky to be with my grandmother especially my brother's children. I know that she is now living in borrowed time and we try to make her happy every single second that she is with us. My aunts are taking care of her each day and we the grandchildren and great grandchildren take care of her during weekends. I would do everything and so is the whole family, to make her feel comfortable, happy and loved. lovelots..faith

Hmm....I don't think anyone ever saw our great grandparents on my mum's side. All my cousins are younger than me except 2. Even my eldest cousin brother was the one that got to say my grandpa. The rest of us didn't get to see him but grandma was always cool!~ Everyone got to see her & likes her, haha!~As for my dad's side, I don't think anyone of us got the chance to see our great grandparents

I share the same experience that you have had. I had a couple of great grandparents that were still alive when I was born but I either do not remember them or they lived too far away. One was alive when I was a baby but I do not remember her. My other great grandmother lived into her 90's but lived in Macedonia, so I did not ever see her either. Since my dad was the youngest in the family, I never did know any of my great grandparents on his side.

Hi sysdexlicwriter. You're probably referring to one of those who responded. I never got the chance to meet any of my great grandparents. They all passed away many years before I was born. It's sad that you never got to see your great grandma when she was still alive. Thanks for your response. Have a happy day!

Yes i very much enjoy the time i've spent with my grandparents (side of my mother). In fact i grew up with them that's why its very sad when they both passed away. They were the parents i knew and i love them very much. Until this day i could still remember our happy moments. It didn't fade in memory and i missed them both especially my grandmother. Its always nice to remember those days especially when i see my parents growing old i remember my grandparents.

I did get to spend a good amount of time with my maternal great grandmother. She was a wonderful woman and I feel very blessed to have known her. My son still has one of his great grandmothers living and spends a little time with her every now and again but she isn't a very nice woman so I try not to spend to much time with her, which sucks. I would have loved to have had my dad's mom around.

I've only got to meet one of my great-grandparents, thats my great-grandma on my mom's side, I can remember some things about her, when she passed away I was probably around 10 yrs.old. All my other greats were already gone when I came along on both sides. I've seen a few pictures of them, not many tho, my mom said in those days nobody had the money for cameras. I have two great-aunts that are still living, one is in the nursing home, she has dementia so some days she doesn't know us, one is still at home she just turned 84, she's doing pretty good. I don't have any children but I have several nieces and nephews, but unfortunately all their greats are gone now too.

I wish I had more time to spend with my great grandparents as a child. I never even met my great grandparents on my dad's side of the family. I have a few memories from Christmas with my great grandparent's on my mom's side of the family. Unfortunately they passed away when I was in elementary school. I definitely didn't get a lot of time with my great grandparents. I really hope it can be different for my children.

I never got a chance to see my grandparents, more or less my great ones. I don't miss having something that I have never had. I do not know too many people that know their great grandparents. I know of children that are being raised by their great grandparents. I think that is too much work for someone that age. It is also good you want your children to know where they are from

Hello phoenix. Thanks so much for sharing your view on this. I agree with you, having to raise a great grandchild would be too much work for a great grandparent...that's the job of the parents. Have a great evening!

My great grandmother passed away when I was 8.I have little memory about her.But my mother always speaks to me that my great grandmother loved me very much. She often got delicious foods and fed me before I began to remember things. As far as I could keep memories she was suffered from obnubilation. She has come through the tribulation of the war against the fascist. So I wish she will have good time in the Heaven.

I do remember spending time with one of my great grand parents. My grandmother was very close to my great grandmother and seeing as my grandparents raised me..we visited her a lot. I don't remember a lot of details because I was very young but I do remember that she was crazy about me. We even went on vacation together in Florida. I had family there as well that we visited during the summer. I can remember her house..and playing there, It is a nice memory.
