If I know the book I want and have time to look it over, I like to buy from www.amazon.com with the free shipping option if I can. I have found that it is also a good site for buying presents for others and having them delivered to their door. It save me a lot of time and everyone likes good mail instead of bills!
I usually like to try a book out from the library first. If I want to mark the book up really bad, I resort to buying my own copy because marking up library books is not acceptable.
I love library book sales, garage sales, estate sales, etc. Sometimes if I am looking for a book, I also like to try ebay.
When all else fails, I look at the bargain racks at Barnes & Noble or Borders or just pay full price for the book as a last resort.

I used to buy my books at Borders or two other major bookstores. But they are so expensive; so now I get my novels at used bookstores. Some of the books are as good as new, and the prices are much, much lower.

Welcome to myLot!
I love to buy bargain books at BookSale... I seldom buy books at National Bookstore, not unless there is a sale

Have tended to buy my books from charity shops or booksales as they are normally the most readonably priced places -
That being said there are a few second hand books hops near where I live and they are not too bad when it comes to prices, although I tend only to go in if I am after a particular book.

I buy books from a number of different places.
If I come across a book that I absolutely, positively have to have, I'll usually buy it from work. I get a really nice discount on new books, so I save quite a bit on the newest titles. Sometimes (if I ask really nicely!) my boss even lets me bring new hardcovers home to read so I don't have to buy them!
I also get a lot of books from Amazon.com. It's so convenient, and a lot of the time I can find used books for a quarter or less. I usually end up spending about $4 total for any book that I buy, and that includes shipping. It never costs me anything out of pocket, though--when I buy books on Amazon, I pay with gift cards I've won from Swagbucks. ^_^%
When I'm really, really broke and itching for something to read, I head to the public library. They always have a lot of books for sale, and I don't think I've ever paid more than a dollar per book there. Sometimes I shop for books at local thrift stores, too, but most of the time the ones they have are very beat up and icky. A lot of my books are collectibles, so I tend to be a bit fussy about the condition of the ones I buy! ^_^;;

When I need to buy a book, I use search engine to look for the cheapest on the internet, I don't care much about the store, as long as I find the price is the best. However, I need much reference books published by Springer Editor and I go to the store directly because the price online and the the price on the premises are similar.

I go to the Friends of the Library book store. It is a nonprifit store in my town that you can donate and buy books, all of the money goes to the local librbay to purchase new books and computers.
I also buy books at gargage sales. on ocasion I will buy anew book at Hastings or Barns and Noble, but I do not like to pay full price for books because I seldom read a book more than once.
