I have tried several diet last year and this year and I am definitely going to be looking them up to see if any had these ingredients in them. We all want/need to lose weight but I doubt if we would risk our hoealth to do it with these diet aids that have these ingredents that are considered tainted. These tainted weight loss products are a big risk to our health because they contain ingredients that are undeclared by the FDA and, in some cases, contain prescription drugs in amounts that greatly exceed maximum recommended dosages. Dieters have no way of knowing that these products contain these dangerous drugs that could cause serious problems to their health In December 2008, the FDA warned people not to buy or consume 28 different products marketed for weight loss. In January 2009, the FDA expanded the list of tainted weight loss products to include 41 more tainted products. Here is a list of ingredients in the pills that is not approved.
These products have not been approved by the FDA, are illegal, and include the following undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients:
--sibutramine: an appetite suppressant available by prescription only and a controlled substance
--fenproporex: a controlled substance not approved for marketing in the United States. Fenproporex,is a controlled substance, can cause arrhythmia and possible sudden death
--fluoxetine: an antidepressant available by prescription only
--bumetanide: a potent diuretic available by prescription only
--furosemide: a potent diuretic available by prescription only
--rimonabant: a drug not approved for marketing in the United States
--cetilistat: an experimental obesity drug not approved for marketing in the United States
--phenytoin: an anti-seizure medication available by prescription only
--phenolphthalein: a solution used in chemical experiments and a suspected cancer-causing agent that is not approved for marketing in the United States
Here is a link I hope will help and I hope that if you are taking any diet supplements that you won't find any of these ingredients in them.
Here is also where I got the information for this discussion

in the last year i lost 80 pounds on portion size alone, non of that pill crap. those things used to be packed with ephedrine until they took it off the shelf, but you can buy it in gas stations as a breathing helper. still it cranks up your metabolism. portion size, no more than 8 .0z protein a day and you'll lose weight faster than a fat kid eatin cake.

Hey thanks max1950, that is some great advice. I am definitely going to try this. Is eight ounces of protein a day for women also. Cause sometimes they have different ratios for women to eat. Thanks for the response.

it's the same for women also, what i does is not overload your liver with meat products or poultry. one of the bigest problems is eating everything that's served on your plate and what the liver doesnt break down goes directly to your kidneys and sits there. look at it this way it takes 3 days to get rid of the effects of the doughnut you ate yesterday. another way i lost and have kept it off is eating a few greek peppers, you know the one's they throw on salads sometimes, they get your metabolism crankin for awhile, radishes if you like them are minus calories meaning you burn more calories digesting them than are in them, little stuff like that means faster weight loss. and dont forget some kind of fiber, what ever you like , just as long as you get some with each meal, or have a small bowl of highfiber cereal 1 hour before you eat. now i dont know if this is gonna work for everyone but it works for me and i havent put a pound back on yet.

loosing weight alone DOES make you age. the reason being unless you do a lot of toneing work outs your skin becomes loose and wrinkley thats what happened when i lost weight. i was sick and couldnt tone, so i looked really bad.

That is really scary stuff sweety and I thank you for passing along this information. Although I need to I don't 'diet' as such, I just try and eat healthily - I am distrustful of diet foods and terrified of products/medication that are supposed to help us lose weight - it is not so long ago that Amphetamines were regularly prescribed by doctors to help people lose weight. I can't exercise which makes it hard to lose weight but on the positive side I stopped smoking almost 12 weeks ago and haven't gained any weight! lol
Great post sweety - I hope people pay attention! xxxx

Congratulations! on quitting smoking. I would love for my hubby to stop but he is forever set in his ways. Thanks for the response I really appreciate it. For some reason I cannot take Dexatrim Diet pills because it makes me have bad heart palpitations. So maybe it has some of the ingredients that are not approved. Not all pill companies list all the ingredients. Again thanks for the response.

Yep. Trying to shed a few baby pounds here and there. Not getting too far. With 2 kids focus is on other stuff. But not going the pill route. Never thought that was too safe. Thanks for the link.

I do use a pill to help me with as a appetite susspressant until I get used to eating less often and eating less food. When my body gets used to that then I do away with the pills. In my case it is mostly T-lites, Which I am happy is not on the list. Thanks for the response I appreciate it.

thanks. this should be a wakeup call for people taking things like that to lose weight. the only thing i think really works is eating less, more healthy eating, and some exercise even if its just a walk each day. all the things i no longer seem to be able to do myself because of disability and meds

Thanks for the response bunnybon7, I appreciate it alot. Well I have been dieting over a week and a half and I have done it without the help of diet pills and I have lost weight so I am happy about that. It has been raining most of the week so really no chance of walking but I have done other things to get in some exercises. Like making housecleaning work for me..

Thanks winterose I appreciate it. It is scary anymore what they put into pills it is just safer to not take them cause some pills don't list all their ingredients so we really don't know what is in them.

Indeed we should not risk our health when it comes to dieting. Personally i really like to lose weight since i gained a lot pounds for a year now. I have heard a lot of slimming product that sometimes i tempted to try but still i am hesitant because i am afraid for any side effects or bad effects on my health. For now i am trying to lose weight on a normal way like exercise but not sure if when will i see any result. Anyway, what you share is really informative to all of us. Its nice that you share it. Happy mylotting!

I have tried T-Lites and they worked for me and they are not on the list which I am thankful for because I bought some and my mom bought some. They work great at surpressing my hunger. I am patiently waiting for the weather to turn warmer and less rain so I can start my walking again. That is how I lost over 75 pounds last year was taking the T-Lites and walking.

Hi mtdewgurl74! I wanted so much to slim down a little bit probably around 5-10 pounds less. However, I don't use any slimming pills to help me speed up the process. I just try to cut down on my food intake but I don't skip meals. I do a lot of house work every morning and really don't have time to do exercise. I just consider my house work as my exercise for the day! haha..
Take care and blessings to you.

The best way to diet is to change your eating habits. Read the ingredients on the labels and if you can't pronounce some of the ingredients, then you probably need to not eat it. We switched to an semi-organic diet about a year a go and the weight-loss for me has been wonderful. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but I now eat a sensible breakfast, a small lunch (an organic apple & an organic yogurt, with a bottle of purified water) and then whatever I want to eat for dinner.
Whole grain, organic pasta, with a meat sauce (the meat we buy is from free-roaming cattle or chickens that aren't pumped full of steroids/hormones or antibiotics)and always at least one green leafy veggie, usually organic.
Our milk and fruit juices are organic and it's made a huge difference in our family's health and has allowed me to keep the weight off for more than 6 months.
Switching from a couple of sodas a day to mostly water, has been a big factor too.

On the Dr.Phil show he once had a over weight girl on the show and told her she could lose 50 Pounds in the first year just by not drinking Pops and drink water. I don't drink as much pop as I used to after I heard that and that it slows down the weight loss even if it is diet. Thanks for the response.

People need to return to the old ways, and use herbal, organic and natural weight loss remedies. Study the herbs, or go to an herbalist, who knows. Back in the old days, you went to the local 'Shaman', who knew all these things.
My weight loss remedy is simple. I changed my diet for life. I refuse to starve myself for a time to lose weight, as it just comes right back on later and that 'yo-yo' is unhealthy.
I read the book "Fit For Life" and I have no problems now. I can eat as much as I want, and stay healthy and keep at a reasonable weight, without 'dieting', EVER.

All i do to loose weight is try to eat as healthily and only eat small amounts between every 6 hours if possible. NO SNACKING OFF (strictly) and only drink water. oh and I do not consume anything after 7pm except for glasses of water. but i make sure that I must not drink more than 28glasses a day.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. 28 glasses a day? That is alot are we talking about 8 ounce glasses or larger/smaller? That is alot of water. When dieting I drink alot of water but not that much I drink 8-10 glasses of water and I also drink sugarfree tea and crystal light drinks.

Hello Mtdewgurl. Wow I didn't know that there was that much stuff that is tainted. I don't use anything with these things in them. I started a diet a few years back and I used only one diet thing it was Special K. I ate a bowl for breakfast and then one for lunch. The only exercise I got was walking. I would start right after breakfast and walk 3 miles. I went from 287lbs down to 160lbs. I didn't give up what I really liked to eat but I did cut the portions size down to just a few bites of what I really like. I wouldn't use anything that I can't pronounce the name of it....LOL It is great to lose weight but you got to stay healthy. Hope you have a great day Mtdewgurl!

Hello My dear friend Mtdewgurl. Don't get down about not having will power we all lose site of that at times. I will keep you in my prayers and hope and pray that you will lose all the weight you wish to lose. It takes time. I went from being real fat to losing down to where I can now where almost any pair of jeans I want to wear. And I thank God for that cause I was only able to fit in sweat pants. God sent me someone real special to love and I think that is where I drew my will power from. God first and my love second!Hope you have a wonderful day!
