Could anyone help me by letting me know legitimate sites with give out data entry work without investing any money please? I would like to do this work from home. Every site asks to invest money to do work. I really don't know why. Why can't they just take money from the first earnings.

ODesk is a very good site. It's an online market place that hosts such jobs. You can go there and read through their requirements. It would be advisable if you would install their sort of monitoring application - it will monitor how much work you accomplished in the given paid hour of your work. It is also advisable that you pass their required exam (which is easy if you'd install their application because it has all the answers hehe).
Good luck!
Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Unfortunely, there are not alot of legit data entry job out there, but everyone wants one. So the scammers come out and create websites to prey on people's emotion. www.guru.com is a place where you can big on some small data entry jobs and then work up a reputation in their system. I haven't done that site but it is legit.
I do understand your need to make some extra money at home. I have been working for several call centers for a few years now at home. Mostly early morning and while the kids at school because I need to keep the house somewhat quiet when doing it. It is legit work and there is decent money to be made. http://wahjobs.blogspot.com has a listing of some of those companies.
