Do you play sport and decry those that don't. Or not smoke and regard those that do as losers. Perhaps you dress a particular way and view those that dress differently as sad. Maybe you vote one way and can't for the life of you understand why someone would vote differently. Whatever it is. Are you a closet intolerant.

I figure people dress the way they do because that is what they like or all they have,With sports not everyone likes to play sports. IF someone chooses not to that is fine by me..Smoking..I wish my husband would stop but I don't decry those that do. almost everyone is different and that is fine by me.

I did tell my hubby he had to quite drinking before I would marry him and he did and like you though that was my best success with him..Now if I could just get him a subliminal message to stop smoking and have it work I would be set..lol Well it is 5 in the morning here and it is pouring the rain so I think I will be heading to bed to drift off to sleep listening to the rain pounding on the roof...which i love listening to that..So good night..umm..morning and I will see you later..You have a good day okay..

I have to admit, smoking is a pet hate of mine. It's something I've never done and will never understand. I was extremely happy when smoking was banned in restaurants in Australia, and now there are even a lot of clubs, pubs and bars where smoking is not allowed anymore.
I understand that it's each individuals choice about whether they smoke or not, but it's so much nicer to be able to go out to dinner, or catch up with friends over a few drinks and not be bothered by a cloud of second hand smoke.

I am a reformed smoker and whilst I agree with you, it does seem to me that either smoking is a bad thing and should be banned, or it's OK and smokers should not be penalised for doing something that is illegal. However, a clean air restaurant/pub etc is blissful.

I secretly despise cricket playing smokers wearing fishnet suspenders that tend to vote from the left, yet if I happen to come across one of these people, I'll embrace them openly and offer them a bon-bon. I don't consider myself to be a closet intolerant because of it though and I'd prefer to label this as me being quirky and effervescent.

Yes, I'm a closet intolerant - but not of people's clothes, electoral preferences or even nuffnuffs who choose to play sport. I'm intolerant of people who say 'haitch' - which is completely unfair and ridiculous. I used to stand over my babies' cradles whispering 'aitch' to them - and I even highlit the word in the dictionary to show them if they ever dared let a 'haitch' slip. Stupid, I know - but there you go. And yes - I hate myself for it.

No, I don't, because I'm aware that every human being is a unique individual but has the same liberty as much as I do. I am tolerant of everyone's personal choice as long as this doesn't hurt anyone. We have a tendency to always regard what we do as the right way, but we should realize that there are several ways to skin a cat and that our method is not the only one. Cheers and happy mylotting.

Hmmmmm tricky one pikey. I have loads of respect for people who can do things I cannot, like sport, making things, working with their hands to build things etc. I am not concerned about people who dress differently no matter what the dress is like.
However, I do have a problem with people who do not respect others, racists, bigots, sexists, thugs etc. I have no tolerance for them and people who destroy the environment just to make money, or exploit people and animals just to make money. I have no tolerance for them at all.
So does that make me an open intolerant? After all I am quite open about my intolerances, my closet is too small for anything but my clothes.

I don't expect others to like what I like, do what I do, wear what I wear, or have the same religious or political beliefs! I don't expect others to agree that my way is always the right way either, and I'm quite prepared to be shown I'm wrong or that there's a better way. The only person I know who agrees with me about everything is myself.... and even then I argue with me about things! lol.

Optimus Prime said this: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" And even God gave us one of the most powerful gift - the freedom of choice!~ What right have I to contend with the Almighty? Ahaha!~Anyway, things are not always what it seems to appear to be, we cannot judge a book by its cover

I agree with you. I know that I am intolerant of people who are intolerant of others, lol. Does that make sense? I do not like bigots or racists or sexists. I think that people should be free to enjoy their lives within some bounds.
We do all live with the consequences of our actions but some people do not get hurt by the nastiness with which they treat others. I wish they did. I wish karma would come back to bite them in this life.

I believe in karma, and when we do not see karma in action, I believe that everything that we do, has consequences, whatever it is good or bad.
I can see that you will be upset with people that are intolerant of others, some people even in our times have a very define way of how people should live their lives.
I thought we would be more tolerant but it is not like in some cases.

Hey p1key! Nope! I feel that everyone is entitled to do their
own thing! I do what I want and I expect that everyone else
can do what they want! I am not about to interfere with their
choices! What for? We are all adults and can all make our
own choices! We don't have to agree on everything all the time!
If we were all exactly the same then what would we have to
talk about? I wouldn't want to live in a Stepford World, would
you?

I am by no means a closet intolerant. There are very few things that I cannot tolerate, and I do not have any problem sharing those opinions. I try to be respectful about it but I do not remain silent.
Bad things happen when good people are silent, and so I speak my mind when I disagree.

I know that this is a very extream example but the entire world shut up-ed and put up-ed, until it was already to late for more than 10 million people in WWII.

I am not a closet intolerant - I am out and proud! lol There are certain things I don't understand but heck that doesn't mean they are wrong! There is one thing I most definitely am intolerant of honey and that is nastiness, people who hurt others and most especially when they hurt those who are vulnerable or defenceless! xxxxxxxxxxxx

Nope...I don't believe I fit that description at all. If you met my friends, you would see we are all a pretty diverse bunch. There are some things that I am very intolerant of and for a quiet person, I tend to be quite vocal about those things. One my biggest intolerances is intolerance itself.

I will say this I'm usually tolerant of everything but there are some things that I'm not tolerant about and that would be the treatment or abuse of children and when others attack others unneccessarily.. But I'm not in the closet about it. I'm blantantly obvious about it.

I think all of us has something that we are secretely intolerant of. For me, it is parents who are not involved in their children's education. I don't say anything out loud, but inside I boil.

It is the same here. I am studying to be a teacher right now, and that is one of my biggest fears of going into the field. The kids will be no problem. The parents scare me!

I used to be a school governor over here. Some parents took no interest in their children at all. Yet if anything happened to them, like a teacher might make punish them (not corporal punishment) they screamed blue murder for compensation. But ask them to find £2 for a school trip and there was no chance.

I believe we're all prejudice about something. I know that for myself I can't stand those who engage in religious persecution, racism, bigotry, etc. I also don't care for people who throw around things out of context just to suit their own argument. So yes, I'm prejudice.
It's like the one Holocaust memorial where there are two doors one marked Prejudice and one marked Not Prejudice. The Not Prejudice door is always locked to symbolize that we carry with us some amount of prejudice.

I think that we can be very prejudiced. I remember seeing a presentation about prejudice a few years ago. We were shown a photo of a wild Hells Angel looking guy close up and asked to mark from 1-10 how we might feel about meeting him on a dark night. 1 was not at all comfortable and 10 was Wonderful. Most folk marked about 4. Then they panned out and we saw that he was pushing a baby in a buggy. Suddenly he was 8/9!
