Was anyone else disappointed that Katherine, back in her role as adviser and best friend to Nikki, basically said that Nikki's relationship with Paul had no future because of what Nikki has with Victor? That isn't the type of storyline I really get into, but it annoys me that a HEALTHY relationship like what Nikki and Paul seem to have is treated as being something not worth keeping while a highly volatile and often dysfunctional relationship like what Nikki and Victor have is treated as if it were true love. I'd love to see Katherine be proven wrong in this instance, but now that this seed has been planted it looks like Nikki and Victor are anything but finished.

I'm suprised Katherine is still supporting the Nikki/Victor relationship after everything Victor put Nikki through. I know that she believes they are soulmates, but that does not mean she can't have a special relationship with Paul. They have been friends forever and it would be nice to see them get at least as much airtime as Victor/Ashley. I'm tired of Victor being cruel and lashing out at Nikki and until his attitude towards her changes then I can't support Nikki and Victor getting together again.

True soulmates is a long established theme in almost all the soaps and is used over and over again to keep drama going because of all their breakups and getting back together. This is the main such thing on Y&R and has driven and will continue to drive much of the storylines on the show. It will always be Victor and Nikki no matter what other "loves" they each go through on occasion.

I wouldn't call them soulmates at this point, though. Yes, they do have that incredible history together and they'll always be remembered as one of Y&R's most legendary super-couples, but I think they're actually better off without each other. Their relationships with other people are far healthier. They'll always have a connection with one another, and I don't mind that they're becoming more friendly again (though I thought Nikki looked pretty pathetic yesterday, practically begging to be "friends" with someone who blames her for the deaths of his wife and unborn child). The prospect of those two getting back together again, though, seems more sad than romantic, and I really dislike how their reunion is being presented as inevitable.
