I know that none of us is perfect. We all have some habit that we know is not good and we keep trying to get rid of it . But try as we might we find it difficult to get rid of these habits...like for instance i have the habit of running my fingers through my hair when i am concentrating and biting my nails when i am thoughtful and so on, i am sure i have many more which are unattractive. My family comments about these habits of mine and i have tried to kick off the habits , but i have not been entirely successful so far
Friends do you all have any such habits ? and if so have you tried to put an end to it? have you been successful?

It is said that 'old habit die heard'.
You are right some of our bad habits sometimes lead us to an embarrassing situation and we feel guilty for the same. I do not bite my nails as such. However, sometimes during day time I forget to comb my hair and I feel hair should be regularly combed so that one could look tidy. I notice there are many how are very particular and do not forget to comb their hair. I sometimes become lazy and do not feel like getting out of bed, specially on weekends, I wish I could get rid of these habits of mine.

Deepak thanks a lot for sharing with us...i know sometimes it is so very difficult to break out of ones old habits inspite of knowing that it is not a great habit and with some effort one can easily get rid of it. We cling on to them for dear life and go on and on..

My nails are terribly brittle and I used to bite them when I was in school But nowadays I do not bite nails at all , instead I keep pinching it and breaking it without allowing it to grow. With great difficulty one thumb nail is decent now.I have long artistic fingers, that look good but my dirty habit of disallowing the nails to shape make them look hideous.Another thing is that I am unsystematic and so I would misplace things.I try to get over it and remember to keep them at their proper places but alas!my mind refuses to believe that I can get systematic and search for things all over and then like a stupid fool I find them safe and sound.

I suppose my worst bad habit is that I am a smoker. I've tried numerous times to quit but rarely achieve any success, although many years ago I gave up for nearly a year only to have 1 too many drinks at a party and ended up smoking, stupid I know. I've tried all the usual stuff like nicotine replacement etc etc but none of that stuff works. But I keep on trying to quit no matter how many times I fail.

good or bad I don't know how u will put it,I still talk a lot, once there are charming people around, and the other part of the habit is I keep watching the face and eyes ,but to my thinking I have cut down a lot on the talking,,what happens is that friends I made in last 15 years, always have only sensible discussions, and we do share our views according to what we experienced ,there is hardly time for such because we meet only once a week,,

Hi kawalnarang , thanks a lot for your response -talking a lot is not a bad habit as such, and especially when you are in good company it is natural..I too have this habit of looking straight at a person's eyes while talking, may be it makes the other person uncomfortable, but i feel i have to look at the person and make eye contact while speaking..

Hello there kiran. i cant remember if i have a special habit, but all i can remember is one of my friends' strange habit. whenever he's busy thinking of something, he always twirls his hair using his left hand, which makes his looking awkward and funny. anyway, i guess such habits like him and like yours are just okay rather than having habits that would endanger your life and your health and other people's lives and health as well. happy mylotting!

Hi France, Thanks a lot for your response- i agree that such habits just personal and do not harm others in any way except that they tend to look awkward and sometimes downright funny to others. If one is able to overcome it there is nothing like it , but most often one goes on with it for life and i have seen people being addressed by their habits LOL like a trade mark

I used to bite my nails a lot in the past but i managed to kick off the habit after wanting to let my nails grow nice and long.
