Have you stared at the sky at night?

My grandmother who lives in the province used to tell me that during her time there were a lot of stars at night, billions of them. She said that when you look at it, it feels like you are in space or you could just grab them and you have stars in your hands (can you even imagine that scenery?).
I love looking at the sky at night, though, sad as it is, there aren't much stars in the sky. I always wonder what happened to the sky at night where it used to have billions of stars. Now I feel like I am in a small box unable to see the space nor even unable to touch the stars. Sad to say there aren't any showing at this time. I always look and I don't see billion only two or three, it depends. But, I would really like to experience, looking at the sky and there are billions of them up there. I would really love to see or go to any part of the Philippines which has billions of stars shown at night. I would love to take her there someday, but for now, I wonder where.
What about you? Have you stared at the sky at night and wondered, what happened to the stars? Where are they? Do you wish you could see them just like our grandparents saw them when they were young (1950's and all). If your place has billions of them, tell me where.

I haven't stared at the sky for ages.I used to stare at the sky and still now in my hometown I can see millions of them, but not as shiny as before.I think this results from the air pollution. The sky with millions of stars hanging there is beautiful and imaginable. It creates a very fantastic atmosphere. When sitting in the yard staring at the sky,I always have many imaginations. The fresh and cool air makes me very relaxed.Nice experience.

I also look at the stars and most of the time, everytime I am on my way home. Indeed, there are not much stars compared to how it was in earlier times, say during my grade school days I guess.. but if there were still many stars during those times, I guess your grandmother really did see a lot more during her time..
I could also recall that I couldn't see much stars at the beach when I went to that camp that I attended a few weeks back..
Open fields or high up hills or mountains.. most common place..

Talim Island. It's in Rizal. This is one I could remember.
True. Its sad that there's so much artificial lights at night now that it tends to blind our eyes to the natural beautiful lights at night.
Fortunately, I still saw that kind of scenery when I was young. Trust me you wouldn't need any light or moonlight at all just to see the surroundings at night. Imagine that kind of scenery where stars light our lives at night. I'd even say its trillions and not billions in my opinion. The part of the sky that is blank becomes the stars at that time since you'll only find a few.
When I saw that for some reason I jumped because of joy. I don't know. It was as if I felt being thankful at that time for seeing it like that.
Now even I wish I could have a night exactly like that one.
I wish you can experience it too. If you don't even once, I'm telling you you missed half of your life.
God bless.

Wow! I want to experience it. It is very true that due to artificial lights we are blinded what is above. I mean, stars give much light. Well, it depends.
I wish I could experience it. I would really love to see it with my very own eyes. hehehe

Yep! No wonder your grandparents described to see billion of start then, because perhaps those are the times when there's not much artificial lights yet. If ever there's been a major blackout at night, go outdoors and you'll see. Tears might even run down your cheeks. God bless.

I used to be able to point out the constellations and I am absolutely awed by them. When I was in the province I was able to do that. Living in the city now, the clouds, the smog and whatever it is up there, including the buildings that obstruct my view. We share the same sky so I think whatever you see is the same with what I see. More or less. ^_^ On a bright moonlit night, at the beach, that's the best place for me for star gazing. That makes me want to have a vacation soon!

Yes, I love watching the night sky. About 15 years back when I was a college student and studying for my graduation exams, I had shifted base to the attic in my house. Not an attic in the exact sense, but it was a small room at the top with little furnishings, but extremely calm and perfect for solitude. During those days, the back of our home did not have any houses. It was a sort of ill-kept huge space with which the owners bothered little and had thick shrubbery and big fruit trees.
Being the night owl I was then, I would prefer studying at night and in between breaks, I would go out to the terrace for some fresh air. Gradually, the stars came into my view and I fell in love with them. the night sky is indeed one of the best natural sights I have seen and though not billions, but they were all there OK, enough to keep me engaged for hours.

there are still billions of stars out there friend! first of all do you have a 20 20 vision?lol
but honestly i don't have a 20 20 vision but i saw billions of stars during summer of last year. it all depends where you are located. if ever you are located in the cities you can only see few. well i think that the bright city lights can grab our attention than those tiny twinkling stars... but it is also due to the air pollutions that is blocking the lights from the stars. if particles in atmosphere are too many they affect the light that passes through. instead of going through the atmosphere and directly to the surface of the earth it will bounce back to space for it is already being block. you know light can bounce to any object even droplets, that's why there rainbow. lol
if you want to see billions of stars during night well you can always take your grandmother to a rural place, you know away from air pollutions. but please take her during summers for it has less clouds. and i am sure you will see billions of stars... you can buy a telescope too, you know to have a closer look at them. i hope that i help you out here.
p.s. i do love stars and el luna! i always try to capture all the beauties of the sky during night but don't have a powerful lens for my camera for that. i hope that one day i could show it to you guys.

Hehehe. Well, I wear glasses though. Hehehe. And yah, they are like disappearing. I guess our world is not safe anymore because we can't see the stars. hehehe.

Obviously the stars dont disappear.
The problem of staying in the city is that the lights from the city is so strong and filter out the stars.
In Singapore, hardly ever can see more than 10 stars in the sky. Most of what we can see are actually satellites, they are brighter and dont blink.
When I travel to countryside in China, the whole sky is full of stars. Can't imagine seeing all the stars in the sky, it's seem to unreal to city gal like me.

Well I did saw alot of star's in the night most of the time but now it had shade away but now I know eher to look upon the sky...
I went to genting highland and I got to see a full of stars in the sky as it's situated on top of a hill in malaysia.
The other that I had a change is when I was in India on a business trip in the dictrict of bangalore near the urban.., there's plenty of stars that you could see there.
But if I'm back home in kl it's a bit difficult to see the star as it's a big city. But when I'm on route to the country side I'll be sure to look up and enjoy it's scenery.

I love to stare at the sky at night especially if there are many stars
I have moved lately, during the last full moon, I can see the moon outside my window and the moon's light was shining in my room!

Yes, I have stared the sky at night and I think it is really beautiful to watch the sky at night. There are so many beautiful stars on the sky which have a bright but soothing shine in them. We can find so many new shapes and signs in the stars and over and above all this we have a beautiful moon on the top. It makes the whole sky the most beautiful thing in the world.

oh thats my favorite thing to do, staring at the sky at night and wishing on the stars. I think there are stars that are so near us so they appear bigger, but when you stared at the sky for a long time, you will noticing sparkling little ones. They are still lots, and they are making our nights wonderful. I love the stars.
Happy mylotting!

I am born in that era where there once used to have billion of stars decorating the sky at night. Now you still do have them but not too many. I just wonder where they have gone to. Maybe it is a sign that the world is coming to an end.

I love looking at the sky at night, too. There are a lot of stars in the sky.
But now, in cities, we can't see so many stars. Because there are too many lights in the cities. In cities, night sometimes like day, so we can't see the star clearly. I think if we go to some towns or countries, we can see more stars.
Have a good day.
