Drama over the internet

I just noticed someone trying to start drama with me online. I don't know this person from Adam, but this person seems to have it in for me. One of my pet peeves is stupidity and petty drama. I try to be nice so that they will calm down and see that they misunderstood me...but when they start to put me down before trying to get some sort of clarification...that irritates me to no end. If they keep pushing me i will snap and i can come up with worse things to say about them. One of my flaws, but only when provoked.
So, why do people do that? To me it seems there lives are so pathetic and miserable that they feel the need to start drama. bullying over the internet gives them this false sense of happiness thus creating a sense of power and accomplishment over someone they don't know. It's not hard to see why they're alone in the first place. There's nothing else to make them happy unless they make someone out to be worse off than they are just so they can feel better about themselves. It's common throughout highschool and if it was a teenager I'd pretty much write it off because that's just what they do. But when an adult acts that way i wonder if they have a hormone deficiency causing them to stay at the maturity leve of a 13 year old.
What do you think? Yea, it's a bit of a rant, but also a valid topic that needs to be discussed. What do you think of these people? Maybe if they read it, they'll take a hint. ;)

I have had this happen to me once on Mylot. I chose to ignore it, because how can you respond to someone who is being a total idiot? It is not worth your time or the air they breathe to try and resolve it. Just move on and know that you are the bigger person. Don't waste your energy being angry or they have accomplished their goal.

that's what I usually do. I usually don't say anything unless they're targeting me. I've had that happen on myspace groups. I finally said something and the guy stopped. So, sometimes you can ignore it and other times it's good to take a stand and let them know you won't tolerate it. thanks for responding!
