Some say that coffee prevents heart problems and some kind of cancer.
Others say that it is bad for people with high blood pressure..
I have also heard - very often - that if you mix coffee with milk, it produces Prussic Acid, which is poisonous..
What do you think, is coffee good or bad for you?

Thanks, malou03ph, and welcome to myLot!
As long as you don´t get any problems, and feel good about it, it must be OK. Coffee is a social drink where I live, so it can be a good thing to be used to a little coffee. Otherwise the heart will perhaps react on the sudden caffeine.

the answer is yes and no. Yes it the sense that it helps detoxify the body in the short run but it also contains caffeine which some claim to give sharp memory but in the long run leads to different sicknesses

Hi, donnaheff, Welcome to myLot!
If I want to detoxify my body, I´ll drink clean water and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. If I want to boost my memory, I would see to that I get good fats including Omega3..
If you find some research about caffeine, please let me know. It would be good to avoid it if it leads to sickness in the long run.
Thanks for your response..

I'm not a doctor but I know caffeine is good for headaches and has a positive affect during an asthma attack but too much causes problems including arrhythmia. Six in one hand...

Yes, I have also heard that caffeine can do some good in some cases and it is good to know if someone has an asthma attack that it can help.
I know that if we are used to get our dose of caffeine, and one day don´t get it, we can get headaches but it may also help for those who are not used to coffee.
Better continue to do more research.

Hi buenavida, I can live without coffee but I do need it as some form of upper in the morning. I have to wake up around 4 am to prepare for the day. There had been many studies about caffeine being detrimental to the health. But coffee makers vouch caffeine is health boosting. So, I take coffee in moderation. A mug or two each day and never at Starbucks!

Hi, eileenleyva. That is about what I drink every day too, and have not so far had any problem with it. I buy ecological coffee, and hope it has not so many harmful ingredients as ordinary coffee. It tastes actually better too.
So we can go on drinking coffee - it is also a social drink, so people in our country come together for a coffee break and can relax from their work for a while.

Coffee is good. But moderately. Your body have tolerance limits for all substances. So you need to recognize your caffeine limits and obey they.

Yes, better not take too much of anything. Maybe the recommendation of four cups a day - max, could be good, but we are individuals, so everyone has to decide how much they can tolerate.

I don't see any good in coffee. It doesn't good for our teeth too. Its caffeine is pumping the heart, so i don't think it will prevent heart problems. For the first time I drank coffee, I got headache and totally couldn't sleep all night

I understand your reaction the first time. Those who are not used to coffee, have problems to sleep - especially if they drink in the evening and more than just a little.
I know a woman who has been drinking coffee for decades and she takes a little coffee to be able to sleep.. Well we are different and that is ok!
Thanks for your response..

That is what I have heard too.
Some people say that it is only rumors to increase the coffee drinking, well, who knows, but as you said, moderate drinking can be good for you and at least no harm..
....and I have also heard that it makes women sleepy and wakes up men..something to do with the hormones I guess..

I'm not sure which it is my friend. It may be a little of both. I think it's like anything else...it has it's ups and downs depending on a lot of things. People react to things differently and I don't think anyones chemistry is exactly the same. It's a toss up I think for most things.

Hi, JenIn - just saw you comment, sorry for the time it took to answer.
It looks like some people can drink lots and lots and have no problems but some have to leave the coffee completely.
I read that it is ok to drink coffee, if you are not stressed. The stress hormones or whatever they call them, are not good combined with caffeine. It may be easier to handle stress without drinking coffee.
Well, I am not too stressed, so I think I´ll have a cup.
Have a great day..

Not good for all the drink and food if over, if just a little or one day per cup so far is still ok for yours health.

True coffee is good for health in many cases. But excessive of anything is not good. So we can reduce the intake of coffee more.

Well, I think we can survive without coffee. It is easy to reduce it if you take it slowly. Then you don´t get the side effects like headace.
Thanks for your response and have a great day - with or without coffee..
