What would you do if you find a unclaimed cell on a road?

I have discussed one discussion on lost phones now it is the time to anwer the reverse of that incident! Would you take it happily or return it because it is that easy finding the owner! You don't have to spend a single penny finding him/her. One can use cell's contact list to inform that the phone has been lost and the owner would be coming running with his/her legs on his head! So, would you or you will take it because one day you have lost one cell and think that this is the payback you are getting from God?

So, did you return one cellphone you get unclaimed. That is great. You are now in that list of honest people now! Cheer!

If I found a cell phone on the road I wouldn't consider keeping it because if I lost mine I would like to think that some kind soul would return it. No matter how many phones I lost myself, I would not keep one that I found because I just wouldn't feel right knowing someone may be looking for it and possibly feel very upset about it.

Good for you! I don't I can be that honest but I can share one incident with you. Once I was in a bank filling up a form. Well, there a guy was sitting with him cell on the table. After sometime he left from there but left his cell unattended on table. I was in two minds whether to keep that or not! Well, I was in that state for 5 minutes and after that the guy came back and found his cell. I asked if it belonged to him. He said yes and I was kind of getting angry on him that "how can you be so careless about his cell. It was me who didn't took it into my pocket, otherwise, you would have lost it!

I'm glad you didn't take it and that the guy got his phone back. It can be really upsetting to lose it and it can happen to anyone to leave it somewhere no matter how careful they usually are.

Hi, sanuanu! I would pick it up with a cloth and return it to the police station. They can get into contact with the right person.. I would not look through their phone... A part of me would feel funny.

no that would be selfishness to take other's cell without knowing him as i know when some of my friends lost their cell phones how u feel as like losing ur daily contacts & most of all its ur best source of help so i would be kindly returning the cell to that somebody who has lost it in the middle of the road or the person would be feeling lost & lonely in this entire world as its that important to a person.

Honestly lol i dont think a cell phone i find on the road would be that valuable. But realyy i would just return it cuase its stupid to keep it. If you did i mean what are you going to do with it because once the person reports it stolen you pretty much cant use it. And now a days the cell phone company could probably locate you with the phone. Also because it would be really easy to retyurn it and you never know someone would peobably pay you a little seeing as how you returned their "LIFE" back to them. And cause if i lost my phone i surte would want that thing back!

At least I didn't locate my cell phone when It got lost or stolen. In my town there are not using new models which can track its situation after loosing it or getting it stolen. I was given an opportunity to buy a Nokia N73 @ 50 dollars only. In deed that was a stolen one but I didn't buy it because I didn't had money at that time. I am still repenting on it because it could have been a worthy buy you know!

ahh! never lost a cellphone yet and to Qualify to answer this i should lose one. Okay just kidding .. can't take it home because in one of my answers for the same mylotter i apperciated the teachers saying "HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY". you could easily understand what it means here in hindi (Apne Pairon Par Kulhadi Maarna)LOL sorry no joking ..is a serious matter. let me think, will check out the model and brand first .. hey everybody will do! Either i will call for police help or will make call from the phonebook to find clues. All depends on the real situation.

i would definitely take it and try to return it to the owner. so that the owner will not have to buy a new phone. i would definitely be happy if someone do that for me too. if they will return the cellphone back to me. but i would have this worry though if the person who is giving back the phone will have other interest than giving back the phone. but i will not have worry if i am doing one going to return it back. cause i know myself. and i will not going to take advantage of them.

i would look at the contact list and call and try to find the owner. i always hate when i loose my phone i usually start calling the number in hopes that some one will pick up so that i will know where i left it.i guess i really never thought about a cell phone being a bomb. i will have to say a little prayer next time i find one and hope for the best.

If you feel that it is a bomb or it is linked with a bomb then you must call the police instead of touching it by your own hands!

I would absolutely pick up the phone and try and contact the owner. I would hope that they have their "home" number programed in their contact list. If not, I would contact a couple of the numbers in the contact list and have them try and find the owner. I was on the other end of this delema when my nephew lost his phone. Someone walking through the neighborhood found it and called the "home" number. it was great being able to surprise him with his found phone.

I would look in the contacts. Most will have one that says mom or dad and that is who I would call. They could tell you who the owner is and where to find them. Then I would find them and return the phone. It is the only right thing to do.

Yes but I have saved a number with "Home Number" in my cell, which targets my landline numbers.
27 Mar 09
yes most definately pick it up and take steps to find the owner, you would want someone to do that for you had you lost the phone. It did happen to me when I was visiting a local carpet shop, I had been moving about some large peices of underlay, although i did not know it at the time, my mobile fell out of my pocket as I was bending over. I use and rely on it for business and the inconvenience of replacement, loss of data is real hassle. Fortunately for me I recieved a call from my father a few hours later before i had noticed the loss, he explained he had received a call from the store and suggested I return to collect it. I was most grateful and gave a very small cash reward to the member of staff who found it.

There are not many people who are honest these days. I have this expereince with me that when it was my turn then I shown them my honesty but when I lost something, no one dared to return it to I!

I would most certainly return it. The person who looses it would be having a tough time in trying to find it. I would try and contact someone from the contact list of his to return it to him. Even if i had gone through loosing a phone, i would not want someone else to to go through it.

I would turn it in if I found a cell phone....because I know of so many that have lost there cell phones, or had one stolen... etc, and I have seen the one side that they have to deal with getting new ones and eveything that goes with that. my hubby did find a laptop that someone threw away in a garbage, it worked and everything so he wasnt sure if someone got mad and someone and threw it away so he turned it into the police station....and after 90 days if no one claims it--it is yours free and clear....so we got the laptop last month... we have to get a cord for it, but now it is ours legally.

Ok but with cellphones, the things are different. You can find the legal user by just looking into it contact list. If there is no once responding to it then only the cell will be yours, don't you think?

This is the era of terrorism and time and again we are reminded not to touch anything that is unclaimed. For my safety and others' as well I would over look that phone and be on my way. Why to take unnecessary risk.

If I found a cell phone I would try to get a hold of somebody in the persons contacts to try to return the phone to the owner. I know it's the right thing to do. I would want someone to do that for me also. If I was not able to I post add in pennysaver or greensheet and have someone call and see if they have claim it. description of phone and wear about they may have lost it.
