Everyone has their own way of saving money....what's your way to save money? Each fortnight, money goes into my online bank account from my normal bank account & I can't touch it unless I go online. I have also found a good place to do my weekly grocery shopping - my weekly shopping bill is now 1/3 of what it would normally be.

I have found it very useful to put money into paypal and all the money I earn off of here, ebay, and anywhere elas I don't every spend. I have about 3 hundred saved up and I have not even put that much effort into it. I do wish though that I could find another site like this one.

I think you just need to be dedicated to the idea of saving money. Most people spend more then they make. I try to keep track of where my money goes and make sure I am spending it wisely. I try to keep saving fun and keep trying to find new ideas. Just make sure you dont get burnt out on it and start with one step at a time.

I also use a paypal acct and alot that money only for online purchases. That way I am limited to when I choose to spend it, and if my acct was ever hacked it is not connected to our regular bank account in any way. Things I sell on Ebay or extra money I make is added to the fun Paypal account.
I save change up also and our bank has one of the coin counter machines and because we are a member we are not charged to use it, sure beats having to roll coins!!! That is considered for a certain purpose and that way we have saved money we otherwise would not towards a vacation or something larger that we wanted to buy.

My husband's and my biggest tip for saving money is not to own a vehicle, and to take public transportation everywhere we go. We save so much money by not having to pay for maintainence, gas, insurance, new licence plates, extra taxes... and public transit is so much better for the environment.

This is such a good tip for those who live near good public transport as there is alot of money to be saved...however, for people like me where you have to walk for miles to get to the bus stop & the town isn't big enough to have an ample railway system, it's still best having a car.
Here in Australia, you don't have to pay for licence plates every year, once they are on the car, they stay there until the registration is cancelled :)

I try never to pay for something I can get for free or do myself, for the most part. Bills, family, living are the priorities for money. If I can save the rest, I will, and I make it a policy to only spend a couple bucks on myself once every couple months.
I make food stretch with creativity and by not letting anything go to waste.
...stuff like that. I rely heavily on my skills to get things done and save money.

Each week i put a 5 dollar bill into a milk jar and at the end of each work day i put my change into the same jar. I dont touch it until the jar is full.
I put the value of each coupon i use into a tin and save that money. I've only been doing this since the end of January and I've saved about 50 dollars so far.
Use coupons
Buy stuff on sale.
Recycle popcans and get your money back.
Turn your heat down when you arent at home.
unplug the appliances you arent using.

This is a good tip too...I always empty my coins out of my purse the day before payday & once the money boxes are full, I put it in the bank. I hope your saving is still going well. Here in Australia, we don't have grocery coupons like in the USA but I have found a place (like I mentioned at the beginning of the discussion) where I can get cheaper groceries so I am saving alot of money that way.
