Hi, all my fellow. I hear that tomorrow aprrox one million people will turn of the light for one hour, started at 8.30pm until 9.30pm (GMT + 7). According to the news source, they say that can give a opportunity to save this earth from global warming.
And Jakarta has announce its participation in this event. Hope that this event can be succesful and more similar event like this will be make again.
Honestly I speak is very difficult for me to do it. Because I live with my parents and brother. Everyone has their own opinion and point of view. So I can enforce my will to turn off all the light in my house. Futhermore, tomorrow is weekend and it's the time for much people look for entertainment after their daily job. So I can only turn off more light in my house than usual and keep on the necesarry light.
So what is your opinion about this and will you turn off the light for one hour in you place?
Thanks for your time to read and give a response in my discussion.
Keep post
happy myLotting...

Yes we will participate on this worldwide event. Besides It's just a simple task that we can make to change something in our mother earth. Turning the lights off in one hour is really a big savings for us. That can give us a PHP200.00 savings in our electricity bill.
Happy Mylot...

I am not sure what time that will be in my area. It sounds interesting, even if it is mostly symbolic right now.

Of course I wanted so much to participate as well because this is for a good cause. Like you, I'm also staying in my parents' house so my participation will depend on my parents' stand as well. Luckily, my Mom wants to do her part by turning all the lights off in the house. Hurrah! Now I'm sure of my participation in this worldwide campaign. Yeah it's weekend and televisions are part of our weekend schedule but we can always have an alternative entertainment. It could be a bonding time for us. We can gather outside (in the garden), have an hour of story telling, with candles lighting us. This will be fun!

Hello winzpc,
Yes, we did participate with the Earth Hour today. We turn off our lights at around 8:30PM and went to bed early. Even though we are the only household in our neighborhood to do, I think collectively it will make some impact to our Earth. I think we should to this every month for the rest of the year for the fever to catch up with other people. It won't hurt if to participate. We actually used candles during that time when we turn off the lights and went to bed. Even though not everybody in your house participate, I think you did a great job participating in your own little way. A little does a lot of thing.
Regards.

Hi,
Its indeed difficult for me to turn off the light from 8.30 pm until 9.30 pm. However, I am able to do that with a night light while turning off the fluorescent tube lamp. Sometimes, I will just use the night light to use the computer while my sister is asleep. Being a citizen of the earth, its nice that we can do our small part to reduce global warming.

i will participate too. let's give earth a chance. if we want our children to have a place to live in, and our children's children, and their children's children, we really should take care of our environment so that future generations will have a planet to build a house for their families.

The idea is good. The main thing is the time. I don't know what time it is in my country. If its at night then I don't want to stay in dark. Beside most people might be preparing dinner if its at night. In my house we don't waste electricity and switch of lights and fans when not in use.
I think saving power should be done every day, not just for a hour for one day alone.

Thats a great idea. This is the first time I am hearing about it.
I think we should do this everyday not just one time or once a year.
We will need to keep at least one light on so we can see where we are going.

Yes, I will join in that one hour conservation even if there is no such campaign here in the Philippines. I think this should be worldwide in order to make this very effective. And also it should also be done on a regular basis to keep the people aware that we have to do something to save this world.

Actually, we also have this campaign here in the Philippines, which was started last year. Check out this excerpt from Manila Bulletin Online (http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/200464/earth-hour-lights-please)
"On Saturday night at exactly 8:30, at least 538 cities in 75 countries worldwide, including the Philippines will turn off the lights for one full hour in observance of Earth Hour, a global initiative that seeks to show everyone that it is possible to unite despite geographic distance and take action against global warming."

It is 8:30 PM local time, no matter where you are. So there is no need to figure out different hours. Just 8:30, no matter the country.

I think you can turn on your computer but with brightness and contrast in zero number..
It also my main problem, I can switch off my room light, but I hardly to turn off my computer. Because I always use my computer to do some activity everyday.
After thinking the solution, I think I will stand by my pc for one hour. I hope I could make it.
