Does anyone else have IBS? I'm so uncomfortable. I've heard about other people living with it and are "just fine". i think i have a severe case because hardly a day goes by without symptoms ruining my life.
Am i alone? any other sufferers out there?

I so feel for you! It's the worse thing ever because it makes it impossible to enjoy life. I always know when I'm about to get a bout of it, because it leads off with a sick stomach and extreme fatigue. Then it 'moves down' and then, all of a sudden, I'm doing the school run or something and suddenly - it's diarrhoea time! It ruined my night out last night, as it was my youngest kid's first 'big' school production, and all through I was worrying if I'd have to make a sudden dash to the loo - and if I'd get there on time.
In my case, it's so bad that I've got bowel incontinence, not always but often. It gets worse when I'm stressed or under pressure. If I'm having a stressful day, I react like I've got some Tropical disease - it isn't as simple as avoiding certain foods.
That being said, certain foods trigger it but in odd ways. Eg I can eat bread and cakes but not fruit crumbles! Nuts invariably cause really bad symptoms and NONE of the proprietary or prescription medicines work.
I get constipation then diarrhoea, but distressingly the d-word seems to be more and more taking over from the c-one. I had to give up all the things I loved doing - including my lucrative fitness career. Nowadays, I wear "Mummy nappies" in case of spillages.
This is one of those discussions people try to avoid, but I wonder just how many sufferers there are here? I think it must be genetic as well. My gran had it although it was called something else then. My Mum does but refuses to discuss it. Distressingly, my youngest daughter is only 10 but is already showing some of the symptoms I did at her age.

Well, I have a slight touch of IBS that tends to act up every now and then, but for the most part mine is quite minor. There are over the counter and prescription help for this, but I know some of it is caused from what you eat as well. I use a product called Xango that is a natural product only available from a Xango distributor which has helped me a lot with mine.
