Out of all the movies, which are based from books, that I've seen so far, I'd say that most of them failed to keep up with the books. Although there are some exceptions- like Confessions of a Shopaholic, which deviated from the book's plot but turned out well. Gossip Girl is another example which was made better when they turned it into a show. What do you guys think? Are books better than movies or vice versa?

I don't think I've ever seen a movie that was better than the book that it was based off of. Not to say that I don't think there are some good movies based off of books, but they just never seem to get them quite as good as the book.
The worst instance of this I've ever seen is clan of the cave bear(by jean auel). The book was incredible and then the movie had to be the worst movie I've ever seen(well maybe not the worst, but it was right up there).

Yeah, sometimes I even think that it would be better not to have read the book before watching the movie so I don't get that disappointed after. thanks for the reply.
anyway, sorry for the typo in the subject. haha.
