OK I think my son politely told me last night that I was "OLD" There was a bluegrass concert at a place near us and I talked my teenage son (18)into going with me. I love Bluegrass music and I played it all up and finally succeeded in him going along. We were there about 2 hours listening to the bands and they had advertised an upcoming event for next month. On the drive home I asked him about going back and he looked at me and said Come on mom...Did you really think I was going to like that outdatd stuff?" Outdated???? Hmmm I think he just told me I was old! So do you like Bluegrass music or is it outdated in your book too?

Hi fasttalker! I think that's funny what your son said to you! Honestly, I think you have to just really have an ear for Bluegrass music! It has nothing to do with age! So you can at least tell him that! And no offense intended, but I personally don't think that I would like it either! I'm not saying that I wouldn't like it for sure, I would certainly be open to trying it! I think it is a happy kind of music and I just might like it live! But since I've never experienced it I really couldn't say! I think if I was there and heard if for myself I probably would enjoy it too!

Oh Opal..you must come to a bluegrass festival here...lol...You may not like the music but the food and fun that goes with it is awesome. It's almost like a bunch of friends picking on the porch for fun. Your right that it really does take an ear for it. I personally like watching and being there more than the actual music..although the music is ok. It's an overall effect.

I enjoy listening to most forms of music, with the exception of opera. I've never aquired a taste for it. My son, 24, was playing Steppenwolf's, "Born to be Wild" the other day and enjoying it a lot. I commented that it was a good song and he shot me one of those 'how would you know' looks. I told him that it was 41 years old and was the first 45 rpm record I won at a record hop when I was a kid myself. And then I pulled out the record to show him. I wish I had a camera to snap the look on his face.

Gospel Bluegrass is the best music ever... I can listen to that all day long. and I'm only 24, I think most of the kids today like rock music!
