People shouldn't tell you how to live life

I get it all the time. People are trying to tell me how to live my life. It doesn't make sense, I want to live my life my own way whether it is bad or not, at least I'm living my own life. I don't want to live someone else's life. I want to live my life.
My mom does it all the time, she's telling me I should do this and that, and my friends say the same thing. I honestly, think they're trying to turn me into someone that I'm not and it doesn't really make sense at all.
What do you guys think? Should people be telling you how to live life even if it is for the better?
Life is what you make it. Therefore, don't have someone else make it for you. Make it yourself.

TRUE...definitely.
everyone of us has their own way and will on how to live our lives and no one even our own family has the right to decide on how we gonna live our lives.
if you understand how cruel and complicated life is, then i am sure that you will do everything in your ability to make the most out of everything that is in your hands. no will not waste life, appreciate little things and embrace life to the fullest.
even in the hardest of times where everyone of us hears words of encouragement from almost our friends and families yet in the end of the day, it is still our very own decision that will brought us into our own feet.
