A copycat!!

Hey everyone!! Let me tell you this... I posted my today.com referral link on a social website, and this girl joined under my referral. Then she started leaving me messages asking me how to do everything! I was ok with that and I explained everything she asked me. (Today.com is a blogging site where you get paid to blog.) Then she started copying my posts!! She copied and pasted on her blog a couple of times. I didn't say nothing. Then she noticed I created a forum for my blog, she went and created a forum for her blog also using the same subdomain address. Fine I didn't say nothing... Now I went to her forum and she copy and pasted everything I have on my forum!!! How do I say something to her without being mean?

if you can-i'd switch your stuff to members only, and deny her. unless she's determined, that'll stop a lot of it. sad thing is sometimes if you confront people like that, they'll flip it around and say you're the copycat.as mean as it sounds, that's exactly why i don't show people how to do stuff..they take advantage sometimes.

that's true.. i would say if today.com is one she's copying on,file a complaint. they'll probably take care of that for you (at least i would hope they'd do something)

that's a good idea but it's a blog so I can't block people from looking at it, and yeah she might say I'm the one copying her, what saves me is the dates on the posts mines always is like 2 days before hers, but she can easily change the dates to make it look like hers was posted first, if I tell her something. I can change my dates too but I don't want to keep going through so much trouble!

Why don't you do the same to tell her how annoying it is to copy someone's hard work. When she updates or adds something to her blog just copy them and do what she does then just leave a PM to that girl telling her to visit your blog. After that if she stop's coping your work it's fine other wise complain against her

All the content she has is copied and pasted from other people so if I do that then I'll be the one accused of copying other people's work...

I would tell her that you have put a lot of time and effort into making this content and that the purpose of blogging is that you creatively express yourself. Copying your content isn't nice and as far as I'm concerned it is illegal aswell as she is trying to earn of it. I think it's wonderfull you want to tell her nicely, because basicly she doesn't even deserve that. Hats off to you being such a warm hearted person.

I wouldn't be even slightly concerned about being mean or not pinky and would just tell her flat out to stop plagiarising your stuff! You appear to have gone out of your way to help her find her feet, so now it's time for her to make her own mark with something original; not abuse your initial friendliness! The last thing I'd be concerned about personally is upsetting the woman as what she's doing is not on at all.

You're right James, I just hate it when people take advantage of me because I'm nice to them! That always happens to me!

Well, it's fine if you get paid for what she does (as she's your referral). Each one has own conscience of respecting copyright, so you can do nothing if she does not violate the terms of that site. You can say anything to her without being afraid of meanness because it's her who is mean, not you.

I know, but it's common sense, she should know better, I don't complain about her copying my blog because I get paid for her posts, and my posts are dated before her, but I'm annoyed by her copying my forum, because I don't get paid for that it's a free forum, and I hate it that she copied and pasted everything...

That's bad. Better give her a private message and tell her how pissed off you are about her being a copy cat.

I'm going to find the words to tell her to stop doing that, I just went and changed my whole layout on my forum and added new stuff, I want to see if she's gonna go and copy everything again!!

I think you must explain to him/her not to copy paste your article or everything that you have already created. Tell him/her to use her imagination or creativation to made a new own article. If she/he said it's too hard for her/him. So suggest him to add the source where she/he get the article or maybe change a little sentence in there. Warn him that he/she could get a bad image from other blogger or interneter about copy / paste that he/she did. Keep post happy myLotting...

you should tell her nicely not to copy your work , is better to have her own creative .and if everything same as you no one will view duplicate job. so end up if no one viewed also no point.
