A very good questions related with the pupils who belongs to a rural areas or who has done his study without english medium. I am belongs to a rural areas who has done his study in Hindi medium. But dut to my self confidence and ability, right now i am working in fortune 500 Real estate MNC on a very good position.
Here the environment is totally different which i have seen till now. Almost Everybody is very much fluent in english speaking and holding senior positions. I have improved my self to fill this gap and try to improve my skills. Now i am able to talk within the groups and my seniors but still feel that i should improve my business skills.
So i feel it is very imporatant to be fluent in english.

English is our second language here in the Philippines, and we Filipinos learn the basics from school. What happens is that we tend to speak in "Tag-lish", that's a mixture of Tagalog (Filipino language) and English. Outside of the classroom and away from our teachers' listening ears nobody tells us that it is wrong to speak that way.
I also could not practice talking in English because most people i converse with are more convenient with our own language and native dialects. My work does not even require me to perfect my English because i deal mostly with collections and accounts and we have a standard report forms to fill out with numeric figures. I only try to speak well when assigned as emcee during office programs and of course, with the aid of cue cards i myself prepared. I also rehearse my pronunciation before standing in front of an audience to avoid embarrassment because i tend to mispronounce some words and forget my lines.
There's this seven year old daughter of a friend who speaks fluently in English with all the 'twangs' and i insist in speaking to her in Tagalog so to save me from "nosebleeding" (that's how we associate ourselves with having a hard time speaking in English). Lol! So there's the prrof i can not speak well in English!
I try to write my posts in my best English but i still commit mistakes. So oftentimes i reword my work until i could phrase my thoughts in the way that i think the reader can understand what i am trying to say.
This is just an appropriate time and place for me to thank the person/s who started and operate myLot because here i have just the perfect avenue to practice the language in my own sweet time without anyone infront of me waiting for me to collect my thoughts, open my mouth and speak without babbling.
Thank you too, grace, for bringing this subject. I am looking forward to respond to your other discussions in the future. Have a great day!

English is my first language, but a lot of the time I feel like I don't really speak it very well. ^_^% I find it much, much easier to communicate with people by writing than anything else. And MyLot really is a great place to practice. I'm sure other native speakers will be more than happy to help you out!
