My 3rd grade son was awarded Student of the Month at his school yesterday. He was given a certificate at an assembly along with a dog tag on a chain that says Student of the Month. He got a certificate for a fee sundae and his picture will be on the front entry way of the school. He is proud of himself and I am proud of him too. Have you ever had a child be awarded student of the month before?

My son received several academic and "person of the month" awards in grade school, and that is a wonderful thing to give them in my opinion. Your son should be proud! I am proud of him right along with you. Recognizing our kids for the good things and great things they do instead of just having the negative thrown in their faces (as seems to be the case so many times these days) is a great thing!!!!

That is wonderful! Who was more proud of him, him, or you? That is such a cool thing. Nothing makes a young child feel better than getting recognized, and in such a great way. Although I bet he is more excited about the free sundae than being recognized at the assembly. After all, we're talking about ice cream and kids.

No never heard of student of the month.
My kids get other type of awards like when my 5 year old participated in Jump Rope for the Heart. He got an award for doing a good job.
Little things like that.

Good for him! He should be proud. My daughter is in Kindergarten. She gets Panther Paw rewards. It is a small certificate handed out for following rules, listening well etc. To date she has earned 8 of them.

What a great honor for your son. I bet you were beaming from ear to ear. All of his hardwork paid off. When I was in school, I received a gold pass, because I had made superior honor roll.
When my son was in school, he received the Martin Luther King award, which made me very proud.
Tell your son to keep up the good work.
