i havent decided yet if im even going toput in a garden this year. guess it depends on how much time i have for it. far as the "standards" i always plant tomatoes, i TRY to get squash and punkins.. but the damned groundhog gets at em as soon as they flower and chomps em down to the dirt. so we shall see this year. might wind up with one hellacious punkin patch tho this year from where alla the guts from last years halloween activities got tossed. im watching to see if anything sprouts on the edge of the yard in the trees.

I have terrible sandy loam, awful bore water, very little rainfall and a brown thumb. I've managed to cart around a few plants for years and years...the oldest is over 30 years old! I would so love to have the ability to grow things. I would have fresh herbs, tomatoes, carrot, gourmet broccoli, zucchini, pumpkin, beetroot and beans too. Also, chokoes, passionfruit and lemons, oranges and mandarins. It's a lot for just one person but I would feed the goats with any extra...they love their veges.
I'd also love a frangipani (too heavy a frost here) and some roses and also some lovely shade trees and some pretty natives to induce the birds...grevillia and banksia.

My thumb is a hit or miss thumb LOL!! but still I try. My mom was the one who was the big gardener. LOL!! But I will have to say that I think you could do some herbs and be ok. The ones that I have planted right now have started to come up and I'm excited and I can't wait until I'm able to use the little buggers. Yum. But I'll tell you what I started some sunflower starters so that I can get a nice big flour barrel out front and they are growing like weeds. LOL!!!!I can't wait to transplant them to the outside.

A must in my garden is vegetables. I want a tomato in my garden. I want egg plants and some local growing vegetables. I also love to put some flowers in it. And it is so sad that I don;t have one right now. If Id o, I will put as much as vegetable I can grow. I love eating organic vegetables. To me it tastes sweeter and better.

when you grow your own veggies you know exactly what is used to grow your veggies and you have a sense of accomplishment.

I live in a flat ( apartment) so i dont have a garden in my flat. But to think about it i would like a very nice lawn in my garden and in the lawn i would have a sunshade and couple of chairs and a table under it so i can play chess with my friends or have a nice party outside.

I always plant tomatoes and bell peppers. I also plant radishes and carrots. I like to grow corn, potatoes, pumpkin, cantalope, lettuce and green beans. Peas are also good to have. I have onions, garlic, parsley, and strawberries.
I like to have a good mix. I then can make salads all summer long. I also dehydrate some of the vegetables and make my own spices for winter. I freeze some of the harvest. This helps a lot on my grocery bill.

I love bell peppers. It's expensive if I buy it. to save on cost, I always have it in my garden. Besides, it's easy to plant them.

I agree with you on that they are getting to be more and more expensive every year that is one reason I have peppers in my garden too. I need to go to lowes and get some seeds for a couple other things that I want to have in my garden and to replace a pumpking that didn't grow and a watermelon that isn't growing either.. My daughters planted the pumpkins one sprouted and the other one didn't and I don't want them to fight about the pumpkin.. So off to get more pumpkins. LOL!!

Well I don't have a veggie garden, just flowers, so my must haves are pretty much not edible. My two favorites are roses and irises, but I'm started to get a good variety of other things too.
