My sister is one of those people who seems to refuse to throw things away because she might need it again sometime 6 years from now. Some things I can understand keeping, but there somethings that just don't make sense. Are you a pack rat? Do you keep everything? Or do you toss things wen you don't see them being useful again?

Earlier I used to be a pack rat but now with age I have matured and time to time I keep removing clutter from my life. Even fengshui people tell that clutter brings negativity and bounds a person down and does not let progress. So it is important to let go.

sea glass, stones and other craft items that I will not toss out . I might make something great with them someday ya know , lol

I am not a pack rat. I do keep a few things. Like outfits and pictures to put in my kids memory boxes. But most things, out they go. Usually I donate them to people who need them and will find them useful.

There are stuff that are useless to me now but I've not thrown away because I might need them one day. I'd like to put it down to practicality and what with the global crisis and all. But, my father and his sister are like your sister, too. They like hoarding things that look so totally junk but are still keeping them. Really, they are such sores to the eyes and they're occupying a lot of space. My aunt has a lot of clothes in her closet, clothes that are so old they deserve to be recycled as rags. Still, she washes them when they yellowed from age and keep them again. The process goes on and on. This doesn't cease to irritate me.
I do recognize that there are things that are worth keeping and recycled. But if they're using up a lot of space then it's time to give them to charity or sell them to the junk store. Like my baby's old clothes. They hold such sentimental value to me but I realized they have much better use if I give them to other kids who could still fit them. They'd just go old and yellow in the closet.
It's a matter of realizing which one is really important and learning how to let go.

Sometimes I go through phases where I hold on to a lot of things for no reason, but for the most part I don't hold on to anything that I'm not certain can be used again.

Hi lilybug! I'm not a packrat but I know people that are. They keep everything! My ex has my daughters school work tucked away in a file cabinet. Not just her good ones either...ALL OF THEM! LOL...He doesn't have as many anymore but he still asks for them. If she has some in her folder I just send them on. That's not the only thing he saves...he's an in general pack rat.

I am somewhat of a packrat. I'm sure if I go through my things I will tons of stuff I don't need or use anymore. I do have a lot of clothes that I need to post on ebay, and I never seem to get around to doing it. Right now I have a junk drawer that has old mail, and other junk that I just toss aside. i used to go through it like once a month, but I have been slacking in that department.
