Fasting & Losing Weight

I have been fasting to lose weight. My schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off. During my fast I drink bottled water, Snapple AOX, a protein drink and milk (used to make the protein drink). I have lost 6 pounds this week. However, I do not recommend my method for anyone just starting out with fasting.
I was just wondering if anyone else fasts and if they do, what methods do they use?
Or, maybe someone can offer up their best method of losing weight that actually works. Anyone?

I once bought a book called 'The Way Of Life' by Pierre Marion that advocated eating only between the hours of 5am and 9am and not eating anything else for the rest of the day. As strange as this fast sounds it worked for me a few years ago but I can't seem to get into it now, although I will keep trying.
I love the idea of fasting for weight loss for several reasons:
1. It teaches self discipline.
2. If done properly it can be a great detoxifier.
3. A regular fast done in a healthy way is a great way to stabilize one's weight
4. I like the connection with spiritual disipline, and getting closer to our spiritual selves.
My personal opinion is that if one focuses on some of the above benefits of safe and healthy fasting the weight will fall off and stabilize anyway.
It is easier said than done though...I am really trying hard at the moment to disipline myself to fast for even one day.
