I danced 253 steps in less than 4 minutes...

Okay, so I wore the pedometer I got last Christmas for the first time yesterday. From 230 in the afternoon and onwards (until 10pm), it showed I had taken 12,937 steps. So take that, 10,000 steps a day! And that was not even all day! So again, say it with me, take that, 10,000 steps a day!!! Since I woke up earlier than I needed to (before 7am) and already had a long list of things to do to quell my boredom, I decided to do some research to answer a burning question I've had, well, since an hour ago. What if I dance in the same spot to one song, would the pedometer count the "steps" I have made? There was no choreography to the dance, just non-stop leg-lifting and jumping as well as some arm-flailing and hip/waisting-twisting. So I put on 99 Red Balloons or Luft Balloons (or if you want, you may as well add the original German version here as well) and in 3 minutes and 53 seconds... I had taken... 253 steps! ( I know I mentioned that in my discussion's title!) So have you done some research on your own as well?

No way Sisi! I think you loving the morning person thing has gotten you more time and researches! Good luck with your pedometer and I need to set something like that for motivation.

LOL. I had started reorganizing the kitchen cupboards. I had stuff cluttered all around and then I got bored so I am now myLotting it. I am getting hungry though. My tummy is letting me know that. So I might get up off my a$$ and cook something. I am sure you are keeping yourself busy and about that you could easily get to these number of steps as well, Mou.

Hey, you better go and eat something, may be some kind of juice, if you find that easy to make now. . And after that get a shot of your organised cupboard and start a discussion and if you still have time please prepare the cup cake and devor it selfishly. I am busy but doing fine. Just completed the One Earth Hour. Tomorrow is Sunday and that keeps me at ease to stay late night. what are yours plans?

Right now, I have something in a pan cooking. I am going to have a "hale"-uva breakfast. With eggs and meat and rice. I'll call it brunch. I am going to try to make German Chocolate Cake for tomorrow night. Or maybe German Chocolate cupcakes... hmmm, thanks for giving me that idea, Mimpi. I am glad to hear you're doing okay. I have work at 3 this afternoon until 11 at night. That is what my plans are, well, they were made for me. But I am not complaining.

Have a bit of free time on our hands today did we? I wish I had me one of these pedometer's as I'd love to know how many steps I'm currently taking in a day! I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be many though, because the office I'm in for 2 days a week is in the same building and I get driven across town to the other office 3 days a week. A rough mental calculation puts me at around 15 steps a day I reckon! I'm not surprised at 253 steps for 99 Red Balloons by the way (Well to be honest, I thought it would've been 254, but I guess I can't be right ALL the time) Next time you should go for a nice long Pink Floyd or The WHO number! You should be able to get in at least 1,000 steps with an epic song done by either one of these guys!

Miss Daisy? Yep, I wear a hat with flowers in it and everything! Anyways, it's not always a driver as such, I'm just not able to drive here so I co-commute a lot of the time too. And I can't do ebay here either I'm afraid. Dang, there isn't even PayPal here!

What free time? Is time really free, James, is it? You can get pedometers off eBay. And as for the count of steps, I really can't argue with your 254 as I know my pedometer may not be the most reliable one on earth. Driven across town, whoa now, Miss Daisy.

Don't forget your sunscreen too. And don't forget to lather it on your ears too. No eBay in Egypt? You're fortunate and unfortunate at the same time. Thanks, James.

Wow! It never occurred to me to use the pedometer while dancing, and now you have me curious as can be. Dancing is my favorite exercise, by far. I plan to try it as soon as the sun goes down so it's not so incredibly hot out!

Yes, I did! It felt so great, and I forgot to check the time, but I did 328 steps. Then I spent more time than I should have in a refreshing shower, but it all was so good I plan to try to do it ever day for at least a while. You've given me a wonderful gift, friend!

Hey anne! That is really something! I had no idea that you could take that many steps to an annoying song like that one! lol Can you imagine what you could do to a song like "Maniac"? I want to get a Pedomiter too! I am curious to see how many steps I take in one day just walking back and forth in my tiny apartment! I know that it would be an unbelievable amount considering I am back and forth to the bathroom and kitchen alone I don't know how many times a day!

I think I will break the pedometer if I dance it to Maniac. LOL. As Scoop said, they are pretty cheap. And you forget that you're wearing them as well. So try it out. Thanks, Opal.

I once used the pedometer to count how many steps ii take a day. Turns out ii take more than 3,000 steps a day. Now i'm a student so I walk from class to class a lot. But 3,000 steps a day! That's a lot! I wonder how many calories I burned...?

Here's a link to figuring out how many calories you burn with how much you walk, Hanan. http://walking.about.com/library/cal/uccalc3.htm Thanks for sharing and good luck with school.

I've counted steps while climbing up Saintanne, counted my strides from my room to the gate, but dancing stpes no... Now are these like marching steps, left right to the music ? Any way hope you having a great time with you pedometer. BTW, I always like the original german version of 99 Luft Balloons.

Panda-ly speaking, I still can't tell what a stride is from a step? My steps were more frantic than that of marching steps. I just kicked them as I felt the music intended for me to do. Have you heard MICKEY in a Spanish version?

Well, so I am not the only one. I have learned long ago that I tend to eat my biggest meal at night for I am a night person and I go to bed with a full stomach and that is not good for me at all. It makes me gain weight and then I get higher cholesterol. So, If I eat a big meal or even if I don't. I like to wait until 30 to 45 minutes before bed time then I put my headphones on and dance my fat off. I do not have to be a great dancer just work up a sweat. Then, when I am done I take my shower and go to bed. I have lost weight and had fun doing it. No more boring tread mill I just dance the night away and to oldies. I love it! And, I love the oldies! **Peace and Love get's you through everything in Life**

Oh, good for you, Carpathian. You have found a diet and a workout that works best for you. I'm just curious as to how long does it take for you to wind down from all that energy-busting moves and go to sleep? Because when I start "dancing", I get more energized. I love the oldies too.
