Pet owners on the street

There is this small group of about 4-5 housewives, feeding a batch of 10 over stray cats on the street everyday without fail, on the same spot. Initially, it was just 2-3 and when time goes, the batch gets bigger. These housewives do not have a job. They use their pocket money given by their children to buy cat food for these stray cats. Though they try to buy the cheaper range, it still cost to quite a lot each month. They do not mind spending that money as they feel that those cats are pitiful as the street is clean most of the time, so difficult to find food. I throughly admire these people, they are kind souls. However, not everyone approves of their doings. Sometimes, these few may get scoldings by those living around there. They accused them of attracting so many stray cats loitering around the neighbourhood, which may cause danger to children. But these housewives did not give up. Since they can still afford now, they will continue the feeding. Until one day, they could not afford anymore, then they have no choice. How do you view?

We have a stray cat issue in our neighborhood, but it has a cause. One of the families in our neighborhood had 30 cats living in the home with them and then the house burnt down. (before you ask, no the county did nothing about these cats before or after the fire) What did happen is that the 20 cats that survived the fire started to raom the neighborhood and have kittnes, at one count we identified over 50 different cats. Again the county did not come and get any of them, nor did the original owners make any effort to collect them. After these cats had ate every mouse and anything else they could find, including tipping trashcans over, we had to set traps to catch them. The shelters would not take them and the county would do nothing. In the end we had to resort to shooting them to put them out of their misery. Sounds cruel but the owners were not being help accountable and that is what the sherrif told us to do. If there are only 10 stray cats in your neighborhood be greatful. If these women can afford to feed them then let them. But you might want to call around and see about getting them fixed because they do multiply. If you do not like the cats around and feel that they are a hazzard to your health (the ones in our neighborhood were) then humanly find a way to put them down.

I feel that I should tell you both that I have reported your posts as a threat. I asked that they deleat my post also, so that more people do not react inapropriatly as you did.. I do not feel that these responses are appropriate, due to the fact that the actions taken by me and my neighbors was encouraged by the local police. As stated by my post.

Cats are God's creations and they deserve every bit as we do to live in this earth/ I'm a real cat lover myself and I admire those people who in one way or another show kindness to animals. It would be quite sad if these people were gone. Sometimes people stop doing kind deeds not because they got tired of doing it. People stop because of certain constraints beyond their control. But I do believe that when one is determined to help, they will continue to do this deed in other means and there will be other more who will do the same. I used to pick up and adopt abandoned kittens when I was younger and bring them home. My mother would get mad at me but then I can't really help myself. I eventually stopped adopting kittens since I got too busy with work and career but i still have a few stray cats who are constant visitors in my backyard since I usually left food for them. I would not worry so much of it. There will always be kind souls who will treat animals with kindness.

I would not feed them but i would call the local animal shelter and ask what they'd recommend you doing or if they could come and get the strays. Granted it makes one feel better that they are helping a poor animal but sometimes it's not worth putting yourself out for an animal that is not your own.
